A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 2)

I wish I were the one who coined it, but, alas, not so! I think I first encountered the term on this site.

“In Effigy” means “done to a dummy or other stand-in”. If it’s a corpse, it’s not an effigy unless they make the corpse up to look like somebody else.

Mike Pence has always been at least somewhat lifelike.

The old Pacific Ocean Park (P.O.P.) an amusement park on Venice Beach had an attraction with an effigy hanging out front. They thought. Until the park closed and was dismantled, and they discovered it was an actual corpse. So, corpse first, then an effigy, then back to corpse.

Is that the one that burned down in the 1920’s?

No. It went bankrupt in the 60s.

Are you referring to the story of Elmer McCurdy who wound up at the Nu-Pike?

The Master speaks.

Was that it? My memory told me it was P.O.P., but you’re probably right, I bet it was Nu-Pike. And it was!

And certainly a dummy!

Trumpelthinskin has a tantrum that Fox News ignored the prestigious award he received:

So FoxNews, which is down 37% in the Ratings, doesn’t cover my getting the “Man of the Decade” Award (because of my great trade policies!) in Michigan, or my Keynote Speech for Faith & Freedom in D.C., and then wants me to show up and get them ratings for their “Presidential” Debate, where I’m leading the field by 40 points. All they do is promote, against all hope, Ron DeSanctimonious, and he’s dropping like a rock. Sorry FoxNews, life doesn’t work that way!!!

Michigan? I think I flew over it once.

And in case you are wondering who awarded him with this “prestigious” award, it was none other than the Oakland County Republican party. Yep, he won a county award. Kid Rock has held that title for a couple decades so he was up against some tough competition!

Republicans love this fucking idiot. It’s fucking mind boggling.

A conservative judge blasts the Republicans for supporting Trump. (gift link)

Donald Trump this month became the first former or incumbent American president to be charged with crimes against the nation that he once led and wishes to lead again. He cynically calculated that his indictment would ensure that a riled-up Republican Party base would nominate him as its standard-bearer in 2024, and the last few weeks have proved that his political calculation was probably right.

As only the Republicans can do, they are already turning this ignominious moment into an even more ignominious moment — and a self-immolating one at that — by rushing to crown Mr. Trump their nominee before the primary season even begins. Building the Republican campaign around the newly indicted front-runner is a colossal political miscalculation, as comedic as it is tragic for the country. No assemblage of politicians except the Republicans would ever conceive of running for the American presidency by running against the Constitution and the rule of law. But that’s exactly what they’re planning.

The stewards of the Republican Party have become so inured to their putative leader, they have managed to convince themselves that an indicted and perhaps even convicted Donald Trump is their party’s best hope for the future. But rushing to model their campaign on Mr. Trump’s breathtakingly inane template is as absurd as it is ill fated. They will be defending the indefensible.

(Quote from article, not @commasense.)

“Defending the indefensible” with Trump is what they’ve been doing since 2015, and it’s still working. Why should 2023-24 be any different?

I too was flabbergasted to learn that. I had thought the award was from Time Magazine or some such. That’s on a par with a story about a potato that looks like a duck.

This opinion piece must, sadly, entirely miss its target audience, as it uses complete, complex and grammatical sentences which are filled with reasoning.

Even better, it was the first time this prestigious award had ever been given.

Apparently, if you want donald to show up to your event and speak, you just have to tell him that he won!

(What did he win? Doesn’t matter. All that matters is that donald isn’t a loser)

Darwin Award? One can hope.
