There is not a prison built or a jail built that will ever shut me up,
I volunteer to run the pokey for free, for four months! Anyone know where His Slovenliness will be incarcerated? Black hole of Calcutta?

It may make you feel better to know he’s facing a criminal trial in Manhattan currently scheduled to get underway on September 23, 2024, for his alleged money laundering scheme to raise money to build Wall with a GoFundMe account.
Care to guess which judge is hearing it? ![]()

(Sorry for the tawdry cite, but it was hard to find anything with the wall-to-wall coverage on today’s ruling sending Bannon to jail on July 1st.)
Are we taking bets on whether or not he actually shows up? I mean, at this point, he can just roll “unlawfully at large” into his general pardon once Trump is back in office.
that will be a nice day trip for him. a chance at a change of clothes and view.
Pedestrians on 5th Avenue will be relieved at this news (note: Trump already surrendered two pistols when he was charged with the crimes.)

Hosing him down and delousing him might help him feel a lot better.
Here’s a gift link to the NY Times article about Bannon.
I liked this bit of schadenfreude:
Judge Nichols’s decision seemed to catch Mr. Bannon’s lawyer, David Schoen, by surprise, and he approached the podium after it was issued and started arguing with the judge.
Judge Nichols dressed him down.
“One thing I think you need to learn as a lawyer is that when a judge has decided, you do not get up and yell at them,” the judge shot back.
I was coming to mention the delousing.
I assume they will medically treat him as I assume he’ll have a bad case of the DTs. Is that typically happens when an alcoholic enters prison?
I would love more info on this. I wonder what Schoen said.
In any event, a great development.
oh for heaven’s sake! what sort of yahoo lawyers do these people have. seriously!
Top men. Top. Men.
The paragraph ending “WRONGFULLY CONVICTED weaponization of our justice system” also makes no sense.
Correct. If he’s not giving the flag an icky embrace onstage (bad touching!), he’s letting it touch the ground, in violation of the U.S. Flag Code. Shows you just how much “conservatives” actually respect Old Glory.
I thought of the courtroom scene in A Few Good Men where Demi Moore’s character strenuously objects.
Strenuously objects? Oh, well, in that case, Mr. Bannon, sir, you’re free to go!
Every time I see something like this from one of Trump’s cultists, where they get up and make an argument in a courtroom like this it just pisses me off to no end. They’re just bullies who think they can force their own brand of authoritarianism on the entire country through sheer force of will. It’s infuriating. The real world isn’t supposed to work this way.
From that article.
You’re sending a man to prison who thought he was complying with the law, we don’t do that in my system,” he continued, deriding the decision as “contrary to our system of justice.”
So it’s just another one of them saying that you can’t hold these people responsible for anything they do because they’re Trump supporters of course. With a not so thinly veiled shot at the judge questioning his legal competence.
I’m going to call this a “TTTT”. Typical Trumpworld Temper Tantrum.
“I forgot armed robbery was illegal.”
It’s like the Borg, and the word “Comply”.
“Borg drone, Do this thing.”
“No! I don’t want to do this thing.”
“Do this thing! Comply!”
“Oh shit well, if you’re going to say “comply” over it, I’ll do the thing…”
Isn’t that pretty much what we hear from the Sovereign Citizen types? “This is my ‘understanding’ of the law, you can’t send me to jail over it!!!”
More like “I thought armed robbery WAS legal”
It’s legal to ask people for money. It’s legal to hold a gun. So how am I ‘committing a crime’ just by doing two legal things at the same time?!? Bloody fascists!
Either that, or “I’m a Freeman on the Land™, not a ‘citizen of the United States’ (a Delaware corporation), and its laws don’t apply to me!”
Granted it’s been decades since I had any significant interactions with any SovCits, but I have a feeling this attitude can still be found.
