A statement from SchadeCelineDionfreude…
That last part.
I can’t think of a more hopeful metaphor for the Trump campaign than the sinking of the Titanic.
This is approximately the twentieth-umpteenth time that the Trump campaign has used a song at a rally after being asked not to do so. Will there ever be a consequence?
(I know, it will never happen. But it would be hilarious to see one of his rallies shut down when a forbidden song is again played.)
I saw a reply to that tweet by Isaac Hayes lll that claimed that because the rights are owned by Atlantic and managed by BMI, there is nothing Mr. Hayes can do abut it.
I don’t know if it’s accurate, but I suspect it is.
Has Atlantic/BMI granted permission? If not, sue the Trump campaign and/or get a restraining order.
If yes, then they need to be told they stand to lose 50% of the US audience and substantially more of the international audience.
Mr. Hayes stated in that tweet that ‘we have repeatedly asked’ them not to play the song. He didn’t say anything about royalties or lawsuits or injunctions. But obviously Trump and his toadies don’t give a flying fuck.
I’m really waiting for them to use the song of someone who can actually force them to drop it.
You see, this is where you and I differ.
I’d like to see an Old-Timey Wooden Pay Telephone Booth shoved up his ass.
I’d like to hear that it happened, but I certainly wouldn’t want to see it happen.
Disagree. Would actually love to see his face as the actual a-hole spreads that far.
And “Old-timey Wooden Pay-Telephone Booth” has got to be the title of the next Bluegrass hit. (Love BG)
Slowly, or at high speed? Either is good for me, but high speed would make a better gif.
“Go ahead, sue us, and go to the end of a long, loooooong line.”
MS copilot declined to make my gif. Big fucking disapointment with AI. WTF. It knows what a wooden phone booth is, it knows what an ass is. Is the problem with the word “shoved”?
Here’s an article that discusses the legal issues around political campaigns using recorded music at rallies. I didn’t know that the standard venue licenses from ASCAP, BMI, etc., specifically exclude political events, and that campaigns have to get special licenses just for them.
Didn’t they also use her face, implying that she supported them?
It seems tanTrump has switched the music he plays at his rallies now:
Spoiler for the non-clickers:
Celine Dion could be heard wailing her 1998 classic My Heart Will Go On in over the speakers in Bozeman, shortly before Trump took the stage.
The epic ballad that conjures images of a doomed ship striking a massive iceberg was played just hours after Trump’s plane was forced to divert to Billings while en route to Bozeman over a ‘mechanical issue.’
Trump has been insinuating Walz is somehow beholden to China. Take a wild guess as to where the Trump-endorsed Bible is printed.
