“Education” implies she learned something. The judges comments during her sentencing suggests she hasn’t learned a goddamned thing.
She also said that she thought that she really couldn’t go to prison, because she needs a magnetic mattress in order to sleep.
“First of all, I need a magnetic mattress. I’ve been on that since 1995,” Peters told the judge, according to a video obtained by journalist Ron Filipkowski. “And I will not have that at the Department of Corrections.”
That’s likely correct in the sense that she probably still feels justified in having committed her crimes.
But she DID learn that being Trump’s patsy doesn’t give her the immunity that Roberts Court* gave Donald.
* I’m having trouble, these days, thinking of it as the “Supreme” Court. Roberts and the other five right-wing extremists have made it so very subservient to a former member of the Executive Branch, that it really isn’t ‘supreme’ any more.
I’m also certain it went way over her head that any such immunity at the federal level means diddly squat for Colorado state crimes committed not by a federal official but a mere county clerk.
This is as nutty as Chuck’s sensitivity to electromagnetic energy in Better Call Saul.
In other words, she is clearly not mentally well. In all sincerity, I hope she gets help in prison.
Just think of it as a court that includes lettuce, tomato, and sour cream.
Don’t feel bad. I’ve been having an argument on Xwitter with someone who’s convinced that Aileen Cannon’s refutation of Jack Smith’s appointment as special counsel - along with the dishonorable Clarence Thomas’ notes in the immunity ruling - invalidates Smith as prosecutor in cases that Cannon has no jurisdiction over.
If Cannon had any actual basis for her disqualification of Smith, it would have very far-reaching consequences and would affect not just other cases but the whole concept of a special prosecutor going forward.
Of course, in reality she’s an incompetent, corrupt judge making up bullshit while more experienced judges facepalm.
True. But their assertion was that, since Thomas disapproved of Smith in his concurrence (or whatever it was), that meant that he (Smith) was kicked off the case being heard by Chutkin.
In another Galaxy far, far away the lettuce won.
Still a joy.
1+1 does not equal a billion. ![]()
You made my exact point, and with far fewer expletives than I used.
The judge did mention her sentence could be reduced with good behaviour and various programmes.
I’m betting that will be slim to none.
I don’t buy it. She’s willfully delusional about Trump and the election, but that’s not the same thing. Here she’s just grasping at whatever straw that comes to hand to try to keep herself out of prison. I loved the judges repeated references to taking responsibility for one’s actions, and acknowledging established law, neither of which she is willing to do at present.
If she does what she’s supposed to do in prison, I suppose she’ll be out around the middle of Harris’s second term. I wonder if she will have learned about reality even by then.
And/or she’s trying to get special treatment, exceptions, or extensions on when she has to report as she eventually tries to further baffle with bullshit as she provides “Medical Experts” opinion on why she needs a magnetic bed, special food, and additional space.
Get the fuck outta here! What kind of prize, or public recognition of excellence can be given to the spokesperson?
What greater honor than this?

Selling Trump Merch at a Trump rally is tough.
That looks like another gym. Is that his favored type of venue now, or the only kind he has a chance to (half-) fill?
I was not aware Mr. Pillow sold magnetic mattresses.

His pillow store does have a line of mattresses but I doubt any are magnetic.
