A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 3)

He’s misrepresenting this one. Yeah, it’s more purposefully opaque sleezy grifting but I doubt anyone familiar with these emails is going to think Trump is sending them money. You are choosing a donation amount to claim the gift offer. On the second page it does say “This donation qualifies for the gift offer!” (The scam here is getting them to check the box that doesn’t make it clear it’s for an extra donation.) He doesn’t show what comes after that page which I would expect to show some worthless gift you can get. But since it’s just a gift “offer”, I imagine you have to pay shipping and handling if you really want it.

I don’t doubt.

“$150 – claim gift from Trump” is deliberately misleading. Yes, to you or I, we would immediately guess it can’t be you just choosing how much money to receive and so it must mean donation. But we would also roll our eyes about the “woke mob” and other nonsense on that page.

It’s deception targeted at the level of a trump voter. Many will get stung by this, including clicking the “double rube” checkbox.

I don’t know where this story belongs, but at least this asshole is off the street.

ICE supervisor arrested on domestic violence charge transferred to the same jail ICE is using for detainees.

I don’t know where to post this, so here it goes.

My family has a loose tradition of going to the movies on either Christmas day or the day after (it’s usually our only movie theatre visit for the year since our small town doesn’t have one). This year we went to see Song Sung Blue (it’s a bit overly dramatic, but it’s a cool real story and the performances were awesome. I enjoyed the movie). The previews and ads before the movie keep getting longer and longer…there were 30 minutes of them this time! Guess what preview came up?

Drumroll please.

Melania

HOLY SHIT! If that preview is the best they could come up with, that movie is going to be a doozy. She sounds like an absolute moron and she also disses her doting husband. Can’t wait for it to be released so I can read the reviews.

What kind of film is that supposed to be? A documentary? A biopic? A biography? Is she in the film, being interviewed and talking? Do you have a link to the preview you saw?

I think it is a documentary. They follow her around with a camera. My wife, who listens to too many political podcasts says it was one of the many corporate bribes to the Trump family. Here is the trailer. Enjoy!

Should I say “thanks for the link”? It made me want to see the film like I want to poke my eyes out…

It’s a horror film masquerading as a documentary.

My take on the whole movie is the last line of the trailer.

Exactly! I can’t wait for the release so I can read the reviews. As I said, if that trailer is the best they could come up with, the rest should be even more :face_vomiting:

I love that that is what the trailer leads up to: Melania making fun of little Donnie. “I’ll watch your big election later.”

Melania looks to me like she’s about halfway through a series of horcruxes.

I watched the trailer. It just looked incredibly boring. It’s mostly just a lady walking around, not doing much of anything. Which is probably what her life is like.

I think they added that bit in the end for levity. “Haha, what a weird couple, she can just watch stuff about her husband on the news.” It didn’t seem all that funny to me.

But again, it just looks dull. And you know how trailers tend to have bits of the juiciest parts of a film to drum up interest. If this is the best they can do, the actual film has to be a real slog.

I suspect few outside of the MAGA faithful are going to bother, and even they probably aren’t going to turn out for it all that much, because it’s about Melania, not her husband.

They say, in comedy, timing is everything.

Yep! if that trailer is the highlights, good god, the rest is horrible. Most trailers are trying to hype you up but that one left me going “meh”. I guess that is because Amazon paid a bribe of a gazillion dollars to lock in this story. I’m sure the rest is even worse.

More people will watch it than went to his inauguration address way back then. It will be hughest success ever. Wait until they find out it is about skin cancer. They will want to get it.

In my little dirtball world, the line “Is it safe?” in a movie belongs irrevocably and forever to Laurence Olivier in Marathon Man.

I suspect that all the theaters will be sold out, but mysteriously also empty.

Hmm, I’ll just say:

The use of the film industry as a vehicle for money laundering is a growing concern. Criminal organizations and individuals are drawn to the potential to launder large sums of illegal funds through the complex financing structures of film productions.

I’m reminded of a comment by Roger Ebert many years ago; that it was a good indication that a movie was going to be really bad when they couldn’t even find a few minutes of good footage for a trailer.

I’m not sure if I could identify a more vapid, uninteresting and just plain dull subject for a movie.

I mean, unless she melts down and “tells all” but even then, I will just read it in gossip websites, which at least attempt to be salaciously entertaining.
