There is also that, “the respect your hosts” piece of that is simply not how they roll. They don’t respect anyone. Hell, they seem to revel in being disrespectful with gleeful intent.
I haven’t seen a thread on this, but I wanted to share the top cartoon on The Far Side this morning. I wonder if it’s on purpose:
Summary: woman, watching cows step out onto the front sidewalk from a taxi, turns to the viewer and says “Andrew… the cows have come home”.
Looks legit to me.

Okay, I are dumb, but… I don’t quite get this interpretation? This seems to be conflating the idioms “till the cows come home”, meaning just something that goes on for a long time, and “the chickens coming home to roost”, which implies the arrival of a deferred retribution.
[ETA: Oh, you meant because of the name “Andrew”? Still not quite convinced because of the difference in the idioms, but I see what you mean.]
I believe the mixed metaphor is intended. There’s cows stepping out of a taxi, which indicates things are not quite right.
You would have to change that from “a President” to “their President”.

I’m with @Kimstu on this, I think the cows stepping out of the taxi is just a way to portray the original metaphor literally (and hence the humor), and not to conflate it with “the chickens coming home to roost”.
But it’s really close to the current situation, and it may have been selected because of the name given in the cartoon. Or it may have been a huge coincidence - they do happen!
What’s the issue? If cows can make and use tools, surely they can take a taxi.

Yeah, Larson has created a few new The Far Side comics in recent years, but his site is largely re-runs of his old comics. The question is whether he had actively chosen that comic to feature today, of all days.
Another vote for no need to mix metaphors. It’s a nice “coincidence” if anybody asks, of course.
