Only competent people do that. I rest my case.
Richard Feynman related an anecdote when he was at Los Alamos working on the A-Bomb. Some big-wig officer had a huge safe installed in his upstairs office (a crane and carpentry was involved). For some reason I don’t remember, they needed to get into it. A “safe-cracker” came in with drills and tools and whatever. He opened it after a long time. Richard found out later he used the default combination from the manufacturer, but wanted to make it look good.

There is a federal judge in NJ that has no more fucks to give.
This is the federal prosector’s office that Trump tried to put parking garbage lawyer Alina Habba in charge of - then her appointment was ruled unlawful, then they tried saying three people were in charge but everyone pretty thinks that bullshit and maybe Habba is still running things, and there’s a judge that is very pissed off about this three card monte ‘“hide the prosecutor” game they are playing.
Please note that the specific case doesn’t involve Trump or anything Trump related (even though it’s a child porn case
). But the prosecution on the case was amateurish and sloppy, they didn’t coordinate properly with the FBI so the case was seriously undercharged and the prosecutors negotiated a plea deal that was about a third of what the federal sentencing guidelines call for.
This is what prompted the judges frustration over not being able to get to the bottom of the “who’s running this office” question. Plus the hapless no-nothing attorney they sent keeps saying stupid stuff.
The article is really just a link to the transcript. You MUST read this. I’ve read it three times, it’s incredible.
Where is the Trump schadenfreude? Did that schadenfreude fly over my head?
Shoot, meant to post to the mini rants thread.
Oh. Wow. That transcript is one for the Hall of Shame. Thanks for sharing it! I’m surprised Rosenblum’s face didn’t melt off.
And may I say, I’m always delighted when I see you’re posting.
Would you like me to move it?
Me: “Oh, man, that’s too long.”
Me 10 minutes later: “Holy crap!”
That was delightful.
It seems to be paywalled for me. Is there another link to the transcript?
Try this gift link: Judge Zahid Quraishi Ejects New Jersey Federal Prosecutor From Court, Orders Testimony on Office Leadership Structure - The New York Times
That worked, thanks.
Phew! That was well worth the read. Thanks again!
Holy shit! I’m not real familiar with reading court proceedings and usually skip them since there is too much nuance and lawyery stuff, but this read like a movie script.
Oh, snap!
I just assumed that you were one of Trump’s enablers and that you were generously inviting us to take pleasure in your misery ![]()
That judge was not fucking around. Dude came out swinging. It’ll be interesting to hear if the triumverate will testify.
Yes please!
Done. ![]()
Thank you for the gift link, agreed, it was brutal.
I almost get the feeling that Rosenblum had been tossed in their by his superiors as a sacrifice with Coyne supposed to take over, and the judge had (properly) none of it. I wouldn’t bet on the other parties ordered to testify actually appearing, because that’s not what flunkies of this administration does, but I wouldn’t bet on any of Trump’s “Top Men” managing NOT to screw up when questioned as individuals and not as a group.

Fuck these people, I am so tired of us winning all the time. I mean, the ability to swim downward into the swamp is a contest, someone can win it I guess…
The judge seems to debunk the prosecution’s argument for why they couldn’t violate the plea agreement. Did I read this wrong? Is there any reason why the government can’t “re-do”? And the judge certainly has the authority at a sentencing hearing (when it finally occurs) to tell them the plea deal will not be accepted by the court, correct?
Wow. I don’t like commenting on people’s looks (as if I have a right to criyocize), but that bunch of images reminds me irresistably of the 1964 Twilight Zone episode The Masks
