He just has no comedy timing at all. What should have been an upbeat, “I want you to run right up the stairs and make mad love to me,” turns into, “have you immediately come up the stairs and make love to me,” in flat monotone.
To be expected considering he was reading it for the first time ever as he told it.

Jon Stewart’s monologues have been on fire since he came back to TDS. I don’t know if it’s the subject matter he’s working with, or the fact that he only works Mondays-- which gives him time to focus his wit to a finely honed point of caustic intensity. Probably a bit of both.
But he starts out playful, almost goofy; then his bile and sarcasm steadily builds and builds, until he’s torching the subject of his ire in a righteous volley of laser sharp condemnation.

I admit that I couldn’t pick Cameroon or Senegal from a map of Africa, but I have the means to look that up in milliseconds on the electronic device I’m typing this on. Why didn’t that person do the same?
