A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 3)

Trump Mobile Hacked. All 3615 customers personal data released online.

We have no team to handle this.

Well, that’s a mighty schadenfreude-inducing fuck up, but nonetheless I’m a bit disappointed, because first skimming your post, I read “Trump’s mobile hacked. All 3615 contacts’ personal data released online”. That would have even been better.

From the linked article:

Conspicuously missing was any member of the president’s family.

When you are running the Con you don’t fall for it yourself. Well, at least you shouldn’t.

Wait, is 3,615 users the entire customer base for Trump Mobile? Because that’s pathetic.

My first thought, exactly. Of course that’s still 1.8-million (gross) into his pocket.

You were assuming Trump is capable of using a phone smarter than he is.

I guess so, or does he have a flunky by his side to do the job when he’s hate-posting from the loo at 2 AM? Gross!

Even this one is smarter than that Asshole

I think the only things he knows how to do on a phone are making/ getting calls and posting on Truth Social. That’s all he cares about. He doesn’t text or send emails or do anything like work and Natalie and her ilk feed him social media. So just a dumb phone for him is perfect.

I’ve just seen a meme (white text on black background):

Someone called Ukraine’s bombing of Russia’s bot farms ‘Operation: Quiet Piggy’.

Holy shit, that’s good.

Hahahahahahaha, ranchers’ edition.

Maybe, just maybe, this time, you’ll think before you vote.

And, just to remind me of what I think of the problems you helped create for yourself:

Hahahahahahaha!

Well, yes. If that going to be your response to all the people hurt by what you support why shouldn’t it be the same for you?

Enjoy the day life you voted for.

Ukraine undoubtedly understands how important the American midterm elections are to world order; a fully Democratic Congress might have some teeth.

So with weeks to go before the election, Zelensky does us a favor by bombing Russian bot farms, where most of Trump’s online supporters originate.

At least, I like to think this was all strategically done.

It’s not just Trump; online support for the Right in nations like Germany also mysteriously suddenly crashed when the bot farm was hit.

This all needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

The biggest headline about the 99% drop in bot traffic is misleading. Most of that were Yandex’s standard web crawlers that index the web. And there doesn’t appear to be any actual analysis of a drop in right-wing comments on social media – it’s all anecdotal, or based on misinterpreting data, or in one case on some apparently AI-fabricated chart.

Researchers from dTeam, a US-based group that tracks Moscow-linked influence operations, told BBC Verify there has not been “any traffic change from known Russian accounts and bot clusters on any platform”.

I don’t think bot farms are conveniently in one location. Most if not all of their contributors would be remote.

If it’s too good to be true it is mostly wishful thinking. If taking down Russian trolls was so easy, many people would have done it by now and the Russians would have rebuilt their former capacity many times over, hardened.

Here is an article from The Independent on the subject.

Essentially, there has been a reduction in bot traffic, and of course you would because a datacenter that runs bots was destroyed, but the claims about social media misinformation suddenly dropping are overblown. Rather, there doesn’t actually seem to be much actual change at all of that kind of activity. In fact, The Guardian says that there has been no reduction of it.

Khan and his team track about 40 disinformation networks around the world, from the UK to Australia to Syria, and monitor what narratives they put out and how publics respond to them. They have seen no drop in the volume of posts from these networks, saying: “Yandex datacentres have no practical connection to social media bot farms.”

So unfortunately, people are celebrating something that didn’t actually happen.

If you work for the orange sleazebag, you can do stupid sleazy shit as long as you don’t get caught.

Get exposed, however, and it’s your ass.
