It wants to be a hurricane, but it just doesn’t have the force and gravitas to be any more than a storm.
If JD can call himself “hillbilly” then a Pacific storm can call itself a typhoon.
Waterphoons, surely.
Just because this is the Dope, a tropical cyclone is called a hurricane in the Atlantic or eastern Pacific, a typhoon in the northwest Pacific, and just a cyclone in the southwest Pacific or Indian Ocean.
Pete Hegseth asked his staffers to move a fragile giant globe used by Eisenhower during WWII into his office. They broke it.
Eisenhower Globe Damaged By Hegseth Staffers After He Asks To Move It To His Office: Report
One of two large floor globes reportedly used by Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower during World War II was partially smashed when Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s staffers moved it to his office at his request, The Washington Post reported.
A photo of the globe obtained by The Post shows a hole in the bottom, appearing several inches wide, after the globe was reportedly dropped.
Moving such fragile and historical items is typically undertaken by trained curators, The Post noted, but in this case Hegseth’s staff took it upon themselves.
QFT.
Taking his cue from his orange lord and melon. Stealing, trashing and destroying priceless artefacts, documents, monuments, etc. is A-OK in Trumpworld.
Donald loves to intimidate people with outrageous lawsuits seeking billions of dollars.
You shouldn’t treat litigation like that. You sue because you have to, not because you want to. There are drawbacks to these things. You have to weigh the risks.
Like opening yourself up to discovery. You may have to answer questions under oath.
Right. I’d be happy to pray for him to suffer a painful death and die in prison.
Honestly a lifetime sentence of recurring painful near-death is my preference, but I guess I’ll take that.
Can a judge refuse to dismiss a case if the plaintiff requests it? IIRC, this isn’t the first time Trump sued someone and then backed out when it was time for discovery. Presumably assuming the other side would be willing to settle before it got to that point. Can a judge say “This is what you wanted, so now you have to follow through on it.”
That article says that if Trump doesn’t sit for the deposition, they may dismiss it. But, at least WRT these predatory/frivolous lawsuits, that’s not going to slow him down. OTOH, if every time he files this kind of suit, then backs off when it starts getting serious, he winds up with a ruling against him or a contempt charge or his lawyers being sanctioned, maybe he’d concentrate his energy on lawsuits that actually have merit (or, ya know, running the country).
If there are counter claims at least, yes. Not sure if the BBC has done that. There could also be a formal process that the court might require Trump’s team to follow; it’s not like Trump can send a message on social media and everything ceases. If they don’t take the proper steps to formally dismiss for whatever reason it might drag on longer than Trump wants.
I guess the only question is: ‘Who is responsible for this, Obama or Biden?’
My understanding of that ruling is that the Judge said Trump must give a deposition, or he may be told to take his lawsuit and stick it in his ear.
The the corpse at every funeral, the bride at every wedding and the baby at every christening, no more than that.
Top … men.
That’s what I read somewhere, that if the defendant makes a counter claim, the plaintiff can’t just walk away. I also read something saying the BBC (legally?) doesn’t settle out of court and that they will absolutely go after Trump for this.
Actually, I’ll just quote the comment I saw, which may or may not be true.
He picked the wrong fight. The BBC belongs to the people of the UK, they pay a license fee for it. As a result, the BBC is not legally allowed to settle law suits out of court.
Again, I have no idea if that’s true, it’s just something I read.
That’s good to know, but if the BBC hasn’t countersued and Trump is forced to drop the suit rather than undergo a deposition, then the BBC hasn’t settled; rather they “won” the case because Trump dropped it. (Depending on your perspective at least.)
Clarify?
You of all people should get it.
