I agree he is stealing valuable oxygen from high contributors like Octopus.
I used to post like that when I was drunk all the time, so I wonder if that’s the situation here. Hate to see an otherwise decent poster go down that road. However it may look from the outside, it’s not a fun thing to go through. Not fun at all.
As has been pointed out, he is capable of being an insightful contributor to the messageboard. He just seems to lack… “brakes”… lately. I certainly get being emotionally overwrought by the right-wing shitshow he constantly (and justifiably) rails about, but he tends to go too far too quickly and can’t seem to stop himself.
If he hasn’t gotten himself banned, he should definitely consider voluntarily stepping away from the SDMB for a while. I’ve done the same thing myself from time to time not that anyone notices, sniff sniff, and it helps.
I think asahi has been consuming too much right-wing media and is starting to believe it. Still against it, but finding it harder to discern what’s real from the lies.
Nah, asahi has always been like this. It’s just that most posters didn’t notice some of the really crazy shit he spouted sometimes - and this goes back YEARS.
But it was mostly confined to the Pit or political posts so overshadowed by a ton of other posters. But it’s now spread out to other parts of the board. Between this and the homophobic BS in the baseball thread, yeah, a timeout was more than warranted.
