I’m always a little surprised at folks who make Hillary their first choice as I simply don’t see the allure at all, but Huckabee as your second choice? Why? I’m not casting aspersions. I’d just really like to understand your reasoning here, as it seems like quite an obtuse jump from Hillary to Huckabee, and an outright boomerang from Hillary to Huckabee to Kucinich.
Obama first, no preference between Edwards and Hillary as second.
- Edwards
- Hillary
Quit stealing my thoughts!!!
adjusts foil hat
Hillary first, Richardson second. I’ve only really looked into the candidates that seem to have a chance of winning, so Dodd or Biden might be awesome candidates and I just don’t know about it.
ETA: and I second the request for an explanation of the Hillary, Huckabee, Kucinich ranking. I strained my brain trying to figure out what criteria would lead to such choice, but didn’t come up with anything
I will be voting in the Nevada Democratic Caucus this year.
At the moment, I intend to vote for Obama.
But I would not be upset if Hillary won, so I guess you could call her my happy second choice.
For that matter, I even like Edwards, Biden, Dodd and Richardson enough to vote for them, should they be chosen.
It is an interesting quandry though. Pundits claim that deep down, the US is still sexist and racist; ergo - neither a woman nor a black can be elected President of the United States. Obviously I disagree and think both are highly electible.
First choice Richardson, second choice Hillary, third choice Biden, fourth choice Obama, fifth choice Edwards.
Hillary because I liked what the Clintons did with the budget. Huckabee because he supports Fair Tax. Kucinich to get us out of Iraq, which is healthy for the budget. So, it boils down to the national debt as my primary hot-button issue. Clintons have demonstrated they can cut it. Huckabee will get rid of the IRS, which is an unnecessary drain on tax dollars. Kucinich will presumably reduce military spending.
Gore, then Hillary. Others are OK.
What I worry about is how much cooperation Hillary or Obama will get from the “establishment” – Congress, the bureaucracy, business, special interest groups. Will they see a woman or minority president as opening a door they’d rather keep closed and (maybe unconsciously) not cooperate with them like they might cooperate with the standard, non-threatening white male president?
After all, if a woman or minority is successful at running the country, the next president might be gay, atheist, or whatever threatens the power structure.
But maybe I’m supporting that kind of stinkin’ thinkin’ by being concerned about it.
Maybe the pundits are wrong. I see several posters listing Hillary at number 2.
I’m not actually a Democrat but as a New York Republican I’m the next best thing.
I already voted for Hillary Clinton twice. I’d do so a third time.
Obama would probably be my second choice. My opinion of him has grown during his campaign.
- Hillary
- Obama
I like Richardson as a VP choice. I’d vote for Dodd or Biden as a Senator, but I can’t see them as serious candidates.
My last choice is Edwards. He brought nothing to the ticket in 2004. He’s done nothing sense. Sure, I’d hold my nose and vote for him against any Republican. But, he’s the, “Anyone but Bush” vote in this election.
- Edwards
- Obama
- Clinton
I would of course vote for ANYONE the Dems nominate against any Republican candidate. Remember, you don’t just vote for the man, you vote for the whole administration, and the Republicans are just plain corrupt and evil nowadays.
I’d probably go for Richardson first if he had any viability, though unfortunately I don’t think he does. I’d like him to drop out and run for the Senate.
Then I dither between Clinton and Obama because I like Obama but he hasn’t really shined in the primary campaign so I worry a bit about the general election campaign, where he would need to do to overcome his experience deficit.
As for the rest of them, I can see no reason to vote for Edwards over the other major candidates beyond his very good hair. I have no idea why the others remain in this other than delusional ego-gratification or lunacy.
- Obama
- Edwards
- Kucinich
Kucinich, Edwards, Obama, Clinton, in that order. I’ll be voting in New York’s Democratic primary.
Don’t get this. Hillary isn’t Bill. You’re only voting for Hillary b/c you want Bill back in office?
Meanwhile, my choices are 1. Obama 2. Anyone but Hillary. Obviously I’ll vote democrat no matter what, but I disagree with the whole tenor of Hillary’s campaign. She seems to be running on the “Husband” platform, and not much else, hence my question above.
The one saving grace for a Hillary win is if she chooses Obama as a running mate.
Bing!
