My first choice is Kucinich and my second choice is Hillary.
According to 2008 SelectSmart.com Presidential Candidate Selector Hillary is my 7th or 8th choice…
- Theoretical Ideal Candidate (100%)
- Alan Augustson (campaign suspended) (89%)
- Dennis Kucinich (88%)
- Barack Obama (82%)
- Christopher Dodd (80%)
- Joseph Biden (75%)
- Wesley Clark (not running, endorsed Clinton) (73%)
- Hillary Clinton (72%)
- Theoretical Ideal Candidate (100%)
- Barack Obama (82%) Information link
- Dennis Kucinich (82%) Information link
- Joseph Biden (79%) Information link
- Hillary Clinton (78%)
Before that little test, Gravel.
After the test:
Chris Dodd (85%)
Obama (84%)
Kucinich (84%…and also my first choice)
Alan Augustson (80%…campaign suspended)
Biden (78%)
Clinton (75%)
Wesley Clark (74%)
Edwards (73%…also my choice of the three frontrunners)
Bloomberg (73%)
Gravel (68%)
And at the end, Stephen Colbert (9%)
I’d be happy with Clinton, Obama, Richardson, Edwards, or Dodd. They do have different emphases, and would go about the job in different ways with different skills, sure - but they’d all get us moving in the right direction again. There is little difference in my levelo of preference between them, and it is NOT a matter of being against any of them.
I do think Richardson has the best record of accomplishment among them, and would do the best job as President, and I’m disappointed he hasn’t campaigned better, but I still plan to vote for him - if he’s still in it on February 5. If not, then Dodd will be out too, and I’ll go with Clinton.
Oddly enough, even though I found that test kinda dumb, it did pick my two favorite candidates: Dodd and Obama, in that order.
Still it should have had the question:
What is your ideal candiates position on False Dillemas?
Supports false dillemas
Opposes false dilemmas
My personal list ran Edwards, Obama, Clinton. The Presidential candidate selector ranked my candidates this way:
- Theoretical Ideal Candidate (100%)
- Barack Obama (86%) Information link
- Alan Augustson (campaign suspended) (82%) Information link
- Dennis Kucinich (79%) Information link
- Wesley Clark (not running, endorsed Clinton) (77%) Information link
- Christopher Dodd (77%) Information link
- Al Gore (not announced) (75%) Information link
- Joseph Biden (75%) Information link
- John Edwards (75%) Information link
- Hillary Clinton (73%) Information link
Note however, that there’s only about a 10% variance among all the candidates listed. The factor the Selector does not take into account is “ability to win against a Republican candidate.” That’s the reason I ranked them the way I did.
Still, I’d like Obama to win, I would, but my nasty, cynical brain thinks Edwards’ white maleness will score with a lot of voters that wouldn 't go Dem otherwise. The MOR voters don’t want more Republican-ness in their elected officials, but I don’t know if they’re ready for blackness or femaleness, either.
Here’s how I came out:
- Theoretical Ideal Candidate (100%)
- Dennis Kucinich (81%)
- Barack Obama (80%)
- Wesley Clark (not running, endorsed Clinton) (73%)
- Hillary Clinton (72%)
- Joseph Biden (70%)
- Christopher Dodd (70%)
- Alan Augustson (campaign suspended) (69%)
- John Edwards (67%)
- Al Gore (not announced) (65%)
Although Obama’s my guy, I’d be very okay with Kucinich.
Edwards is my first choice, Clinton my second.
That’s why I answer “Neither” & put low priority on, & I appreciate that feature.
My result:
1. Theoretical Ideal Candidate (100%)
2. Barack Obama (82%)
3. Christopher Dodd (77%)
4. John Edwards (77%)
5. Dennis Kucinich (75%)
6. Joseph Biden (69%)
7. Al Gore (not announced) (69%)
8. Wesley Clark (not running, endorsed Clinton) (69%)
9. Hillary Clinton (67%)
10. Bill Richardson (66%)
11. Alan Augustson (campaign suspended) (65%)
12. Michael Bloomberg (says he will not run) (58%)
13. John McCain (54%)
14. Ron Paul (54%)
15. Mike Gravel (41%)
Which is sort of where I thought I was. See, I knew I didn’t like Mike Gravel!
- Theoretical Ideal Candidate (100%)
- Barack Obama (88%)
- Al Gore (not announced) (80%)
- Bill Richardson (79%)
- John Edwards (75%)
- Wesley Clark (not running, endorsed Clinton) (75%)
- Christopher Dodd (73%)
- Hillary Clinton (72%)
- Joseph Biden (71%)
- Alan Augustson (campaign suspended) (70%)
Which is pretty close to my order of preference.
