Add me to the Revtim admirers, that was great!
As a male in the IT world that is at least somewhat enlightened (i.e. dragging mate by hair to cave = bad) I’m usually taken aback by other guys’ attitude on this. Although I can’t know exactly what female tech workers go through, seeing the reactions are bad enough.
I started a job as a Sr. SysAdmin a few years back, and had a woman who reported to me for some of her work. On our initial meeting, she was describing a recurrent problem on a system and partially into the story she stops. I look at her, she looks at me, silence.
Finally she says: “That’s where the guys usually interrupt and tell me what I’m doing wrong”
Me: : blink :
Unbeleivable! To think that others of my gender could force a coworker to that point. I was ashamed, then angered. I told her then what I tell all people that work with me: Do your job, do it right, or figure out how to. You want me to help, be happy to, you don’t, OK, I’ll go do my job.
As long as a person knows what to do, and does it, what possible reason is there (other than menstration shorting circuits ) for gender to come into play?
