A poster from another board is missing...

A member from Stardestroyer.net has gone missing since the New Year in Manhattan.

You really sure people on that site are close enough with him to know what his activities are?

My a-hole cousin (branch of family I haven’t heard from in 3 decades) befriended me on a popular site and then didn’t see a posting from me in a week. Freaked out and posted for someone who knows me to call me because said cousin was “getting concerned”. WTF? You were so concerned you haven’t bothered in 30 years? Now you’re concerned? Plus the fact that this cousin doesn’t know squat about my personal life–I haven’t mentioned family, friends, etc. It’s just an internet site, after all. After that episode, cousin will NEVER get my email address or telephone number. Jeez…

Apologies ahead of time if the postings on the site you list are from people close enough to really care. Things are not always what they appear.

Apparently, its real.

NYPD is involved.

'nuff said.

I read through the other site’s thread - yes, there are numerous people who are very close to him (his mother, for starters) that know what he should have been doing.

He was last seen Jan 2nd.

You might ask a mod to put NYC in the subject line so that area dopers know to check this out.

Oh no, what a horrible thing for his family and friends to be going through. I really hope that somehow he turns up and is okay.

I don’t agree with the people who were saying not to bother trying to contact the cabs because there are so many in NYC. I think it might be worthwhile to try to distribute the flier with his photo to the cabbies and see if anyone remembers transporting him by some chance. It’s possible that a cabbie might happen to remember him and have some information about where he was going that might help.

Damn, that sucks :frowning: I hope the guy is ok.

Was the credit card used on 1/3, or is that just when the charge went through? The 1st was a holiday and the 2nd was Sunday. He might have charged something Saturday or Sunday that didn’t go through until Monday.

Also, this is interesting:

Just wanted to mention an odd coincidence. Yesterday on the Paul Finebaum radio show out of Birmingham it was a topic of discussion that one of their regular callers was a “missing person” and possibly the victim of foul play, with the guy’s wife (who had called the show several times to report the matter) a key suspect.

I know I’ll be listening again today to see how things are going.

Cumulus Media (2-6 CST weekdays).

Let’s hope it doesn’t turn out like this: http://www.techaddiction.ca/man_burns_down_home_in_online_feud.html

As for the mom’s comments, I doubt that this guy actually did want to disappear on purpose. The mom’s comments, unfortunately, sound more to me like the kind of desperate hope that any of us would cling to if someone we loved went missing. Nobody wants to believe that their child could be dead even though unfortunately it sounds like that is the most likely scenario here. :frowning: Of course, nobody knows yet what really happened, and I hope that it does turn out that he’s okay.

We’re praying for his safe return. What a horrible thing.

Yeah, there really are people on that site who know him that well (I’ve been on that site for a number of years now myself). Is it really so shocking? I’ve met more people on that board in real life than I have met people from here in real life. Most of the pictures of Ghost Rider in the thread were provided by other board members who took them during real life meetings.

Of course there are some unrepentant creeps over there, too - just like here. They’ve been cleaned out of the main thread on Ghost Rider’s disappearance.

…another long-time Stardestroyer.net lurker here. Here’s hoping Ghost Rider is found safe and well.

Any updates?
