A potential dopefest record

I’m not sure this is a record, but I’m throwing it out there for all contenders. Last weekend on November 2nd and 3rd, I attended two dopefests back to back, in Pasadena and San Francisco, a distance of 352 miles as the crow flies.

While driving up the 5, there was a smoggy haze all over the Central Valley. Little did I know that hours earlier, there was a 108 car pile-up on the 99 due to the tule fog. On the way back, driving through Santa Maria, there was more fucking fog. Visibilty dropped to probably 50 feet, but only for a mile or so. I did have to drive about 35mph for around 10 miles though.

Any record breaking must be done on consecutive nights. By the way, I believe I’ve overextended my welcome at my friend’s house in San Francisco, so it may be a while until I can attend another.

Cool! I’ve only been to 1 mini-dopefest, but it’s still fun. 2 is sweet. Hope you had fun at both.
btw, what’s with west coasters calling their highways the 5 instead of just 5?

That’s not a West Coast thing, it’s a Southern California thing. Up here it’s “80”, not “The 80”, for example.

OK, so only SoCal is to blame. points finger towards southern California, blaming :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s a running problem.

What is the record that you are establishing? Distance travelled to a Dopefest? Poor visibility (or judgement)? I’m sure people have travelled farther for a Dopefest. Or is it something to do with the consecutive aspect?

Distance on consecutive night dopefests, of course. I know Glee went from England to Vegas, so the distance itself is unimpressive.

Way back in Dec. 2000 I sort of went to 2 in one day. There was a Bay Area Dopefest at a friend of Zenster’s in… Pleasanton? Then later that same night a bunch of us went to a boat party and met up with a couple of Dopers. I also travelled 3000 miles (from RI to CA) for that one.

Back when we had a Dopefest I called DopeToYourDoor[sup]tm[/sup], a rolling Dopefest which went from Cincinnati to Lexingon to Lousiville to Indianapolis and finally back to Cincinnati. Each of the legs is about 100 miles or so. One of the participants, Thinksnow started in Columbus, which is another 100 miles, so he might hold the record. This was over 3 days.
