The strangest, most disgusting piercing I’ve ever heard of was not genitalia piercing: it was UVULA piercing!
Ew ew ew! HOW? And more importantly-for the love of Cheese, WHY???

My friend took really good care of her eyebrow ring, and it left what could easily be mistaken for a dimple. Tiny, VERY unnotiable.I imagine if it gets infected the scar would be larger.
I’ve goten used to seeing them, so that’s something. But at first, i couldn’t see the point to it. I don’t have anything pierced, tattooed, or any other form of self-mutilation myself, but seeing that on others just makes me go “Why?” Especially if it was back in the days when it was meant as individualism, because I could see that what they’d get is “you poser” reactions, or eventually (after everyone started doing it) “you don’t know what individualism is, do you?” reactions.
Now I’m used to it, and my reaction is less extreme, but there’ll always be a thought of not being able to comprehend why anyone wants to do it.
P.S. I really don’t like jewellery anyway.
I don’t think I would even notice it. Unless I knew you previously. Then I might say, “Wow, Sara, you got your eyebrow pierced! Cool!”
Me, I have six ear piercings, kind of normal-like. In the Bay Area, I rebel by NOT getting tattooed or pierced, it’s so common. Especially when I was in school - EVERYONE had their nose or eyebrow pierced, and had at least one tattoo. I wouldn’t say that the look is passe, but it’s certainly lost its shock value and is rather mainstream.
:eep:
Anyway, I think some nice facial piercings (eyebrow, lip) look very nice on a cute young man, so I don’t imagine it would be different for you.
I generally fine piercings on women to be pretty sexy. Ditto tattoos, for that matter. I’d like to get my own eyebrow pierced but can’t due to my job, in which I deal with customers. I’m not even supposed to have an earring, but I have managed to get away with it.
You know, I must say that I often find an eyebrow ring or similar little nod to youth and rebellion, offsetting an otherwise traditional look, to be almost irresponsibly attractive. But that’s just me.
Yup, that’s me!
“You got your [eyebrow] pierced! How rebellious! … in a conformist suburban way…” - Lisa Simpson
Eyebrow piercings don’t don’t get too much reaction from me. More a sort of “huh” in passing than anything else.
I’ll pass, thank you. You don’t sound like you’re very much fun.

**It’s an absolute truth that the things you think are cool at age 20 have little in common with the things you value at 32. And if you’re one of the few who still think the same way, well… you just don’t want to be one of those people. You really don’t.

I’m curious about the last part of that statement… Why not? I got my first tattoo at 24. I’m planning my next at the moment, which will be my fourth. I got my nipples pierced 4 months ago. I’m 30. Unless things change pretty darned dramatically in the next less than two years, I expect to still like my tattoos and rings at 32.
Do you figure I shouldn’t still like them? Or is it different because I started with the body art at the ripe old age of 24?
Please do not interpret this as negative - I am seriously curious. For the record, I currently hold a professional government job, and all of my tattoos save one are in concealed areas. Check the sig if you’re curious.

Same here. So, i guess I shouldnt/won’t value “understanding, awakening, perception” (in the spiritual sense) as in the tattoo on my leg, or I shouldn’t/won’t value my heritage as in the one on my arm? Boy, i sure do hope that’s not the case.
Oh and on Oldscratch’s tattoos and piercings. He really does have some nice tattoos, and his ear piercings are very nice (perfect at the size he has them). I especially like the arm band tattoo on one of his forearms (I forget which one, it’s a red band with a black star, IIRC)

Actually, “understanding, awakening, perception” is exactly what I’m talking about. These things are part of our evolution as a person, an indication that we do change, that we’re not exactly the same as we were. This is why I think you should be careful about making permanent changes to your body. I know people who at 20 were Bible Thumpin’ Fundies who are really glad they don’t have “John 3-16” tattooed to their arm right now.
Hell, I still like the same music I did at 20, the same foods, politically I haven’t changed much, so it’s not like you wipe the slate clean every decade. The people I was referring to are those that don’t come to understand new things, don’t awaken, don’t evolve. That’s the person I don’t want to be. Just as one wouldn’t want to be going dinking with the boys every other night at age 45, you also can’t be a good egg forever - you either have to hatch, or rot.
That’s all I meant.
By the way - have you seen those ads for “permanent makeup” for women? They make me sad - have these people have just given up?

Am I to understand that you are going dinking with the boys every other night now???
Wow, TMI…

Thanks Doob. Nice to be apreciated.
