A question for Cat people::

In a perfect world and you got a new Cat, what is your new Cats name?

Mine would be -Mandoo.

as in Katmandu

I can’t say I invented it. I heard it on TV.
It made me laugh so hard.

I like, like it.

I personally don’t care for cats, but if I had one, I’d name him Hercules. After the Elton John song.

Sean Spencer (from the TV show Psych) had a cat named Chairman Meow. I thought that was pretty clever.

In a perfect world…

“Excellency”

Especially if it was a Himalayan cat :smirk:

Boo

I’d have to go back to the names I vetoed that my kids chose when they were little for our two cats. I know, it sounds horrible, but I did, so hell yeah, Spider and Cow for the next 2 cats

In a perfect world, one in which it would not be a self-fulfilling prophecy, Underfoot.

Stevens

In my experience, most of the time the cat finds a way to tell you its name.

My dad’s cat was named “Dammit.” (And that was before they did the same joke on JAG.)

I’d name mine “Carrycat,” but it’s a short story.

My answer is complicated. Suffice to say our family developed a theme for naming cats. Jewels, semi-precious stones, metals…

The current cat in my life is Jasper.

I like giving mundane human names to cats (and dogs). But I can’t say what name would fit a cat in advance. I have named a few cats after Golden Age film stars, and we currently have a Lillian Gish. We’ve had a Joey, a Dennis, a Lucy, an Irene, a Madeleine, a Hope (among many others), so who knows what we might come up with next?

Although, my son says he wants the next pet to be a Gromit, whether it’s a dog or a cat.

How about -Astrophe of -Aclysm?

In a perfect world,I would live in California… in beautiful Big Sur.
And my cat would, of course, be named… Big Pur.

(go ahead—admit it…-----you smiled before you groaned.
And you’re still smiling now. 'Cause you’re a cat person.)

I admit it. I laughed out loud. Big Pur is very funny.

I’ve had a cat named “Fish” before. But I like the convention of naming them normal names.

My sister-in-law currently has Fred and George, and various friends have Frank and Lola, and someone named their kitten Charles Land, esquire after their previous cat Peter died.

I recall reading somewhere that Katy Perry’s cat was named Katy Purry

I believe her cat is actually Kitty Purry.

:man_facepalming:

You’re right.

For a female, Phoebe, Daphne, or Chloe.

I’d like to have two cats, named Thing One and Thing Two. But it would be confusing when I had to call them or talk to them (call both of them Thing?).

those are awesome names for cats, but ya still gotta hold off to make sure the name fits.

If and when I get another cat of my own, it will probably be named, oh so imaginatively, Cat, possibly Kitty, or maybe even Kitty Cat.

Nah, I always named my cats for some personality characteristic they displayed, princess, prince, bitty brat, rugrat, mouthy etc
