Stately Mercotan Manor has been without a full-time cat for a while now, but the Mrs. changed that up this week when she adopted (with my consent) a 3-ish year old feline by the name of “Sandy”.
Now, living on the beach as we do, we both agree that having a cat named Sandy is too precious to allow. We plan to rename him.
Here’s the conflict: I love my proposed name for him, she doesn’t care much for it.
She likes her name proposed name for him much better. I find it an okay name, but it doesn’t thrill me with the name I prefer.
Wowbagger the Infinitely Prolonged is a character from Douglas Adams’ Life, the Universe, and Everything who became immortal after an unlikely accident involving a particle accelerator, and some rubber bands. After a while he got bored, so to ease his boredom he decided to insult every intelligent being in the universe in alphabetical order.
It’s also the name I voted for, since cats have a way of being soooo goshdarned cute even when they’re insulting you.
I don’t like any of them. It can’t be Sandy. I agree that under the circumstances, it’s too cutesy. The other two suggestions are… well, I can’t imagine liking a cat with either suggested name.
Oh, gosh. I just went to the pet store the other day and bought four goldfish for my pond. I named the smallest ‘Pixel’. Within days, he came to an unfortunate end.
So I can’t endorse that as a name, although I obviously thought it was great at the time.
<heavy sigh…>
So…how 'bout a pic? I like ‘Koufax’ - how about ‘Lefty’? Takes the reference down another notch and I kinda like that.
