A question for job seekers and/or H.R. people

If you apply for a job and there’s no response or a form letter response, and then some weeks later the ad reappears in the paper, is there any point in applying again?

I’m in this position twice over - I applied to a couple of jobs recently and got no response from one and a “thank you for your interest” letter from the other. Both positions have been advertised again in the last week or two. I’m still interested in both of them, but I don’t want to waste my time if there isn’t at least some chance I’ll be considered.

I say go for it, on the chance that a different person is sorting through the resumes. I once saw an idiot manager toss a lot of good ones on ridiculous grounds. Perhaps that happened to you, and perhaps when you re-send it, it will be read by a different manager.

It’s like asking for a date Chief, the worst thing that’ll happen if you inquire again is that they’ll say “no” and then you’re no worse off then you are now. What the heck, try it again.
