I have been a user of Yahoo!Mail for a long time. Earlier this week, Yahoo made some service changes that have enhanced and expanded the service. I’ve noticed something strange, however.
When I use Internet Explorer, none of the buttons (like “Reply”, “Delete”, etc.) work. Additionally, none of the advertisements show up. Instead, I get a message where the ad should be that says “Unable to load page requested”.
When I use Netscape, the buttons work fine, but I keep getting pop-up messages from Netscape that say “ad.doubleclick.net could not be loaded” and I have to click “OK” every time.
What could be causing this? Do I have some sort of malware that blocks doubleclick’s ads. Could it be interfering with the buttons? Anyone else have this or similar problems?
The problem is at Yahoo’s end. There was some discussion about these issues over at www.macfixit.com when the problems were happening with Apple’s Safari browser (can’t access the articles now unless you’re a MacFixIt subscriber, which I’m not). The discussions revealed that it wasn’t just Safari, and it wasn’t just Macs - Windows users were reporting similar problems.
So just give Yahoo! some time to fix the problems. Most of them have been fixed already, but there are still a few bugs to work out.
I thought that might be the case, with their big upgrade and all. I seem to remember that there was also a denial of service attack on the same day as their upgrade.
