A question for the women. May be TMI.

Alright some of you know that I have had this unknown pain in my right side.
Not gall bladder (gone) not appendix (also gone) not adhesions, (gone from previous scope).
I had my tubes tied three years ago, and three months ago they decide to give me deprovera shot to see if the hormone will help the cramping and the pain in my side.
Right before they give it to me I make mention that my last cycle was only a day long with terrible cramps.
They blow it off.
I haven’t had a cycle for three months now, and the shot didn’t help and I have gained some weight.
The problem is it is all in my stomach. Not all over my body.
I look four months pregnant. And my body is doing things it does when I am.
Bleeding gums, my finger nails all broke, I am light headed, I can’t wear any of my clothes, and my hair is thining, my chest hurts, and I get the tingling like let down from nursing.
Is this from the shot, or can a woman go through a false pregnancy?
What in the hell is wrong with me?
And I am seeing the doctor on the 16th, I guess I just wanted some input from people here.
Tatortot sent me an e-mail about vericose veins in the uteran area, and I have yet to discuss that with the doctor.

Have you taken a pregnancy test?

Mabye I should qualify that.

Tubal ligation sometimes does not work, or finds a way to reverse itself.

So, have you taken a pregnancy test?

I thought about it since my last cycle before the birth control shot wasn’t really a cycle. More like implantation bleeding.
It would be kind of scary to be pregnant with my tubes tied and the birth control.
Not that I would mind having another child. I am already broke with the five I have, one more couldn’t break me anymore.

Well, since you’ve had five kids before, you should know your pregnancy symptoms.

Re: Tubes tied and birth control: Stranger things have happened.

WAG here!!! Plus, if you were already pregnant, I don’t think that the Depo-Provera would do anything after the fact since it’s progesterone. Though, IIRC, it does cause amennorhea (sp?) and weight gain in a lot of wonmen.

You should probably take a pregnancy test just to be sure though.

Keep us updated…and good luck!!

Sounds like it could be your liver and/or pancreas and/or common bile duct. It could be very possible to have a stone lodged somewhere causing most of your problems.

I would be even more suspicious if you were jaundiced.)a yellowish tinge to the skin). You would notice it first in your eyes & on the roof of the mouth. Do you itch. Do you have a rash over most of your body. Is mostly your abdomen bloated? Is there any possibility that you have been exposed to another person’s blood or body fluids? Have you had a low grade temp? If the answer to 2 or more these questions is yes this should definately brought to your Dr’s attention. Hepatitis comes to mind.

I doubt that it’s a tubal pregnancy, they rarely go beyond 10-12 weeks. The tube would burst by then. Personally been there, done that. I had a 10 weeks ruptured tubal pregnancy. No fun at all.

I am an RN so my my advice with these words of caution.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

At any rate, try to get to a Dr. quicker than the 16th if you can.

Ovarian cyst? or maybe a fibroid(s)? I hope you get some answers soon.

Also, what kind of doctor are you going to? Maybe you should get a second opinion?

How old are you, is early menopause a possibility?

I dont have much to offer except to ditto Mermaid. See the doc sooner. Get that pain checked out- it shouldnt be there- you already knew that though.

Kricket- when I’m pregnant, those are NOT my symptoms!

You need to see a doctor asap. I worry about you waiting another two weeks.

Where do you live? I would like to recommend someone if you are in SoCal or will be near here.

I will keep you in my thoughts.

Love, Deb

I might be able to put one idea to rest - I’ve had an ovarian cyst which ruptured, and it doesn’t sound very much like what’s happening to you. The cyst was basically asymptomatic until it ruptured, then it was the most intense pain I’ve ever had. It generally ached for the 6 months until I could get the surgery done to remove the cyst, but I had none of the other symptoms you’re describing at all.
My WAG after reading your symptoms is it sounds a lot like some types of heavy metal poisoning. I agree completely with everyone else here - see a doctor ASAP.

I have had a bout with fibroids. Definitely get that checked out; it can become unpleasant to deal with later on. You may want to ask about endometriosis, as well.

I have used depo-provera shots for birth control and did not get my period while on the shots, nor for about 6 months after I stopped taking them.

But you should definitely see a doctor and keep going until you get some answers. Take care and please let us know what happens.

The pain has started to get sharper in the last few days. I have had this pain for a year now, but the other things have only been happening in the last three months since the shot.
Most of the weight gain is in the abdomen. No yellow anywhere. And no rash.
I did buy a test and I will do it in the morning. I know it says anytime of the day, but I would feel better doing it in the morning.
I had a scope surgery in January of last year to see if there was any endo, but all they found was an adhesion from a prior surgery. Puzzled the doctor because he was sure that was the problem.
They did tell me that the shot could mess up my cycle. So I knew about that, but I went in because I was worried about the cramping, and the fact that my last cycle was so irregular before the shot.
The doctor I am seeing is my ob/gyn. I have also seen the family doctor about this.
The family doctor is the one who ran all those nifty test. I had tons of ultra sound, blood work, and a cat scan of my abdomen after being injected with a radio active dye. I really don’t want to go through that again. The only reaction I didn’t have with the dye was death.
But, they found nothing with all those tests and the surgeries.
One doctor told me that my right ovary was enlarged, but she didn’t feel any cysts.
EJsGirl, the only symptoms of pregnancy I haven’t had that I usually get was morning sickness. Mine was more like all day sickness when I was pregnant on top of those other things.
My mother-in-law thinks I need to get checked for diabetes and thyroid. I was boarder line diabetic after I had my last child, but I have large babies. My third was 10lbs 8ozs.
Another thing is I have become terribly emotional lately. Songs and commercials drive me crazy if they are sad and sappy.
And come to think of it on the morining sickness issue. Somethings upset my tummy now that never have before. But I wouldn’t say it was like morning sickness.
I think I might see if I could get in earlier even if I have to miss work since the pain is getting sharp.
Thank you guys so much for listening and caring. I knew I could bring it here and you would listen. A lot of people I am around day to day have begun to blow me off about it since nothing has been found.

I had a cyst on my ovary once, but it went away on it’s own. It was painful, but it doesn’t sound anything like what you’re going through.

I’m with The Mermaid on getting to the doctor quicker than the 16th if it’s at all possible. I won’t even venture to guess as to what the problem is. My pregnancies were relatively problem-free, and I’ve still got my appendix & gall bladder, so I have no idea what trouble with those is like either.

(((((Kricket))))) Keep us posted!

My only thoughts are that you need more iron and/or calcium.

My father’s thinking perhaps violent menopause and/or not enoguh of the appropriate hormones.

Do the preg. test if it makes sense to you.

Wish I could help more. This is baffling my team of “medical experts” (me, my mom and dad — five pregnancies, and RN, and way too much Discovery channel).

You know, sometimes your kind of medical experts are a bigger help.
Because we look for so many possibilities, and sometimes doctors just get one idea in their heads and then when they rule it out it’s over and they try to passify you.
Now I am not saying all doctors are like that mind you, just a few of them. Some seem to be losing that human touch.
Oh, and I forgot the deal with the stones that was mentioned earlier. I had asked the family doctor if it could possibly be a gall stone that was still in there from when I had my surgery, and she said that my symptoms didn’t fit for a stone.
I don’t know. I am just tired of being in pain. One doctor asked me if they gave me something for pain management if I could live with it. Well, not really. Not with having to work and take care of a house hold. Anything they would give my would cause me drowsiness. Ibuprophen doesn’t work and it made my stomach hurt.
Taking the pregnancy test doesn’t really make sense, and I know it can happen, but I am doing it to be sure so that way I can change my habits just in case.

BTW I didn’t mean to slight your mom. Some of the best advice I have gotten is from the nurses. I think they are more in touch with the people sometimes then the doctors.
Just wanted to clear that up.

Have your doctors test your cortisol levels. Your symptoms sound like what happens when you have severely elevated cortisol levels.

Good luck dear and get your butt into the Doc if the pain is getting worse.

Hopefully it’s just something mundane.
