A question of immunity and illness..

I’m curious about something. In the last several years I’ve notice many people close to me becoming ill without ever showing the classic symptoms of illness/disease-fever. Is it an issue of Immune system problems(I.E.- human immune systems failing or tapering off), or is it the bug itself?(flu, cold, other viruses)

My wife, myself and my grandmother have all come down with this year’s weird bug whihc skips the feeling of crappiness and unwellness and jumps straight into bronchitis-a long term bronchitis. It takes about 24 hours to develop the bronchitis, and many weeks to overcome.

Hell, amoxicillin doesn’t even make it skip a beat.

Any ideas, Doctors, immunologists, biologists?

What was your question?

Sounds like pretty standard viral bronchitis to me. Some strains may begin with typical “cold” symptoms, but many just go for the tracheo-bronchial tree.

And if it’s viral, as most acute bronchitis in otherwise healthy people is, it will laugh at all antibiotics.

However, beware of the resurgence of Pertussis (whooping cough) and consider seeing a doctor for really intractable cough. If one has pertussis, we can’t get you over it faster, but we can at least make you non-contagious!
