A Rare "Double Quadruple Fuckwit" goes to the deBruyn family of North Bonneville, WA

I give your continued attempts to make “fuckwit” a BBQ Pit catchphrase a 1/10. Your Pit bull like tenacity is somewhat endearing.

I give your lackluster Pitting of a random, white-trash, domestic squabble a 0/10. (fake awards that include your pet catchphrase? come on, dude)

Different story about the same event - apparently the man ‘swatted’ the child’s bottom to prevent him from touching some wires. Doesn’t sound quite as bad as ‘spanking’, but I’m sure that the difference might be in the eye of the beholder - I don’t personally think I could hit a child of any age, but I dont have any children, and a stern word is generally enough to put my nieces in line. From past lurking in spanking threads, I know some people feel it is a good attention getter to prevent children from doing things that can hurt them (swat the hand reaching for the hot pan, etc), but might the child be too young to learn this lesson? Might it have been more effective to simply remove the child from the situation? In any case, WTF were these wires doing within the baby’s reach in the first place? The baby lived there, the wires should not have been within reach if they were a danger (again, no children, but I know good parents, and they seemed to be pretty keen on removing possible dangers from baby’s reach before the baby was even born). As to tasering the grandma, this guy is a complete asshole, and it bothers me to know that his job puts him in contact with the public on regular basis. The grandmother may have been out of line (from the details I know, I can’t make that call), but it doesn’t sound like she was putting anyone in danger, so hitting her with the taser isn’t the answer. If she’s that out of line call the cops to haul her off (let her get tasered by a professional  ).
EDIT: Oh yeah, and a hearty ‘fuck you’ to the woman who decided to side with this asshole rather than the woman who raised her and was only looking after the welfare of the woman’s child (that part wasn’t in the article I read).

Yeah, “fuckwit” has been around on the boards forever. Who gives a fuck, and it ain’t witty.

For some reason, I find this the most disturbing part of the story. If a taser doesn’t shut her up, what will?!

Heh, if he actually did swat the child as it reached for electrical wires and then Grandma said she’d have the child taken away because of it, I think there is poetic justice in the taser shot she got.
It’s really hard to say what actually happened (which is one of the reasons it’s fucking lame to Pit obscure, yet somehow also common, news events) but that article doesn’t make it look like he was punishing the child with a spanking. Just an immediate reaction type thing.

Swatting a 7 month old’s hand away from wires he’s reaching for would be fine, as long as the idea is to keep the hand from touching the wires. Swatting his behind as punishment is useless, a baby that age doesn’t have the cognitive ability to understand than he’s being swatted for doing something he shouldn’t do.

But I can imagine that he swept the child away and spanked his bottom as he did it. My personal and childless opinion is that corporeal punishment is not the way to go but I can relate to the concept that fear and protectiveness can produce at least fleeting anger that can manifest in many ways. Also, it’s not like he took the kid over his knee as some “punishment”. Maybe crazy Dad thought a quick swat would teach his kid to associate pain to electrical wires.
