A sad, sickening thought...

Mods, I apologize if this is in the wrong forum…

It just recently occurred to me that I have not heard the name “Chandra Levy” even once since 10 September. How sad and sick that the worst thing to happen to our country in 50+ years (some would even say, EVER) seems to be the best thing that could have happened for the Senator from California. Let’s face it…he did appear to be in some deep doo-doo.

I realize that some stories are in the news simply because there’s nothing else to talk about at the time. I don’t think this was one of them. Now that we’re at war, is this no longer news-worthy? Would it have gone away by itself? What other stories seem to have fallen off the radar since Al-Quaeda declared war on the US? I had another one in mind but now I can’t think of it.

Your thoughts please…
mmm…

Robert Blake???

Yeah! That was the one.

Gary Condit is the representative from California that was involved in the Levy case.

Robert Blake was the actor that allegedly killed his wife.

Dignan is the helpful expository poster.

First of all, he is not a senator, but a congressman. Second, as ugly as his behavior was, I was really tired of the repetition of this no news story was getting to the exclusion of every other story. I think Condit’s behavior was poor, but as he had an ironclad alibi (with Cheney when she disappeared) it wasn’t helping find the missing woman. Nothing did more to lower my opinion of the media (which was already low) than its constant drumbeat of this story.

No more shark attacks. Atleast none that we’ve heard of.

Chandra Levy still missing! Along with lots of other people who disappeared or were murdered on the same day, but we won’t bother talking about them because they didn’t happen to know a public figure.

I’d like to think we’d all gotten a good idea of what’s important in the world after 9/11, and that the whole Chandra Levy issue could be left out of the spotlight until they actually had news to report, rather than simply filling up airtime with interviews of her gynecologist and other people who only had a passing knowledge of her (if at all).

I quite agree with Tuckerfan. The media had been boiling the same bone for weeks, and by September 11th, they were no longer even getting gruel from it.

Now if someone had come forth after 9/11 with a confession or with crucial evidence, and that was ignored in favor of attack/war coverage, that would be wrong. But AFAIK, no such thing has happened, so it appears that the media has finally accepted Chandra’s disappearance as, in DPWhite’s term, a “no-news story”.

It will be back in the news if/when they find the body.

If there is a body.

If there was a crime.

If there was…

Hey what were we talking about?

Oh yeah, how 'bout that Geraldo going to FoxNews!!!
What a shocker, huh??!!
