A SDMB "Classifieds"...

Has a classifieds section ever been proposed to be added to the forum? If it has (I did do a search and didn’t see anything) what are the reasons for and against and why the ultimate decision to exclude it?

I was just thinking that the board seems to be of mostly like minded, trustworthy, and intelligent people and I feel like a classifieds section could work well.

Splendid question. And, since it refers to policies of the Board, let’s move it to ATMB.

Heh. You’re new here, right?

SHM seeking SF 4 LWOTB, HMS & [del]BDSM[/del] SDMB.

Heh. Somewhat, I’ve been reading for a long time but finally got sick of going “Well I wanna say something, but I don’t have an account” so finally paid up some months ago. It just seems like something missing from the forum, even if less “intellectual” than the rest of the board.

Well, I can understand why Personal Ad’s aren’t no the board. Penis would quickly ensue. But I meant more of like “Does anyone have a cast iron pot to sell?” or “I’ve got a few extra books around the house for sale take your pick” and etc. etc. etc.

…and the coding could be adapted from the Chicago Reader’s existing classified section.

I would mind paying for an easy-to-use ad system, if the price was reasonable.

I’m going to assume you meant “wouldn’t” but in my OP I didnt even mean a separate system, just another section of the forum devoted to members making offers to buy or sell goods.

Wood Chipper for sale. cheap!!! As-is. Cash only.

I posted a classified in MPSIMS.

Hatchet for sale. Used once. Will send immediately. Need answer fast.

Should it be “A SDMB Classified” or “An SDMB Classified”? An sounds better to my ears.

Wouldn’t is is.

Vote for great idea. Mebbe I could pick up one of those Germs and Guns books cheap.

To clarify–I think it wise & well thought of.

I could finally link to my Amazon Marketplace listings.
