trump may very well through gas on the fire in an effort to get people to like him.
It’s not partisanship. I’d cheer a normal Republican (if there are any left) who got stuff done with competence and a little dignity. It’s Trump that disgusts me. The post you’re quoting was all about Trump, not a generic Republican. No matter what good might theoretically come during his time in office will not erase what a vile human he is, nor assuage the stain on our country caused by those who voted and enabled him.
If a second 9-11 happened I would promptly blame the administration. Murder thousands of our citizens on our soil once, shame on you. Murder thousands of our citizens on our soil twice, shame on us - by which I mean, shame on the administration.
And that’s without even getting into the extremely probable case of Trump inciting this attack in some manner.
In what way(s) do you think the US is “burning” now?
I don’t think you thought this post all the way through to the end. “It’s not partisanship” … but you’re a stain on our country.
:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
No way would the country rally around Trump in the wake of such an event (IMHO) because Trump himself would be the biggest derisive factor. When 9/11 happened under Bush it was one of his (few) better moments…he actually was able to rally the public while not starting a witch hunt for American Muslims. That he then took the good he’d done off the rails on a tangent to Iraq is beside the point. Trump would never even get things on the rails in the first place…hell, he’d probably be asking Alex Jones what the real scoop is and accusing his own government of being behind it all. :smack:
I largely agree with this. No matter what happens and how bad it is, Trump will somehow pull a Dick Move and make it worse.
He’s the kind of guy who would take a baby chick on Easter and feed it to the cat, then kick the cat.
It’s not because he’s (barely) a Republican. He’s a stain for non-political reasons. This is not a political disagreement. (The man hardly has any political ideology or goals.). He’s a digesting human. He was when he was a Democrat, and he is now, as a right wing pretender.
You seem to have different definitions of “burn” and “eaten by shark” than most people.
I said a while ago (to many hearty laughs here on the SDMB) that one of my bigger concerns about Donald Trump was that he’d revert to his NYC liberal roots after winning the Presidency. I agree that he does not have deep-seated political ideology.
But it doesn’t matter to you. He could shoot someone on 5th Avenue in broad daylight and you’s still be fine with him because you’re getting what you want. Right?
No, you’re wrong about this. I would not be “fine with him” if he shot someone on 5th Avenue. For that matter, I’m not really “fine with” everything he does now, but my lack of rabid hatred for the man makes me something of an outlier here.
The man possesses not a single redeemable quality. Not one. He is morally and intellectually bereft. Anything that he may do that is “right” in your eyes, must surely be based on the same principle of chance that even a broken clock is right twice a day. Do you disagree?
You were offended by an insult accusing you of having no soul. Yet you often choose to rationalize your defense a man who, if such a thing existed, clearly would be soulless.
This, among other things, is why I find myself questioning your integrity and the intellectual integrity you bring to your arguments.

If you need more, I’ll get more, there’s plenty. The only saving grace here seems to be that Russia likely won’t destroy the US any time soon, since they paid so much for it.
No no no, that won’t be necessary. Presumably, you led with your best material, and if that’s it, I’m inclined to agree with Velocity:
Well, the country isn’t going to literally burn. I mean, I hope it won’t. Climate change is a lie, right?
Okay, so you don’t give a shit about racial violence, consumer protection, fiscal responsibility, pollution, or international relations. What do you care about, exactly?
On “burning”: the situation put me in mind of this:
So you don’t like the metaphor, fine, whatevs.
There was a protest at Berkeley a while back that slightly inconvenienced some white people, that seems to have upset him greatly.
But but but… Gorsuch!
Good point.
Trumps a genius! He knows how to protect us all. Uhhhh.
Oh well. It reminds me, nostalgically, of the early Nixon era. We all figured protection was why Nixon chose Agnew as VP. We knew there wouldn’t be another Presidential assassination.
