A simple website question

Hello - I need help!

I’m trying to achieve something which seems like it should be simple. I want to put a website online to promote a show we’re doing next month, which has the following properties:

A single page
My own background artwork
video on the page

However, I’m getting confused by the zillions of web hosting companies out there, none of which seem to be particularly keen on telling you exactly what you’re signing on for.

Help?!

Cheers,
David.

Get yourself a GoDaddy hosting account. It will give you all you need for about $5 per month.

They have hosted my company’s web site (4000+ pages) for 2 years now with no problems.

I also got free mail accounts for hosting.

I can’t help you with choosing a provider for your website, but keep in mind that most contracts include a certain amount of data transfer per month, and if you have a large video and/or your site gets a lot of attention, it’s definitely possible to go over the limit and that can cost you a lot of money.

Because of that, I’d recommend you put the video on some free video-hosting site that allows embedding of the player in your own site. Youtube for instance allows that (though it has a 10 minute limit for videos unless you’re a partner). That way you can cut down the data transfers you’re paying for by a couple of orders of magnitude.
