A Story Start for Your Judgement - The Horror at Cecil Cove (with FAQ)

A note to those who are not of the Ozarks - Cecil Cove and Cecil Creek and Erbie are all real places, located where they are in the story. And yes, I have been there several times.

So…whatcha think, doesn’t “Kerrigan” remind you of someone famous and [apparently] talented whose last name you could just not leave OUT of your story…?

I think I shall give up writing in your honor. I am slime next to works such as this.

I doubt seriously you could fit me in, but hey, I’m game.

“You can tell it’s Lovecraftian, because I use the word ‘cyclopian’ in it.” -Neil Gaiman

I, for one, am rapt, and eagerly await the next installment. As my handle doesn’t especially lend itself to the actual naming of a character, there’s probably no point in releasing it for your use. All the same, if’n you find you can use it, you’re certainly welcome.

Cool beans, Dudette!

Can I be a dead body? Ask anyone who knows me–I’d make an excellentdead body.

Loved it! Give us more!

And if Una happens to meet a piano player named Willie in a seedy dance hall, and bribe him for information, the real honkytonk willie would be honored.

Great Story Anth… it’s vrey very interesting!

Am I the only one that is expecting Homer to start tap dancing at some stage??

Una, Excelscior!!

That was wonderful, Anthracite. I’m totally intruigued, and would really love to read the next installment.

Oh, and don’t you think Lucretia is, oh, I don’t know, kinda mysterious, in a sinister sort of way? People tell me that all the time. Really.

Good woman, thus far there are measures of pith and tooth to your weavings. With your inclusions that help to hook the locals, the potential is only constrained by time, desire, the effectiveness of wayward goading, and the like.

Let that creatively lubricated noggin loose.

Huzzah!

This is great!

Why do I get the feeling your depiction of Ed Zotti isn’t all that far off the mark (although I’ve heard he’s only in his early hundreds…)

And you’ve made Homer sound positively erudite compared to some of his recent posts

…uh, we’re not seeing Inbred Jed from the White House in Ark, are we??

So good!! Where do i send my money for the next chapter?

OK, OK. I’ll start work on re-writing the parts I already have done, so I can post sometime in a week or so. Maybe I can serialize it, I don’t know.

Of course, I am going on that big trip soon, so that might mess me up as well. I can write a bit on the flights tho.

Like it a lot. Keep going!

Thank you for the nice words, guys! Wow - did 330-some Dopers actually read this little story start? Very flattering indeed!

I’ve started on the next segment. And decided as something to help calm me during my big trip (oh jeeze…only 6 more days!) and keep me “connected” to the SDMB, to keep writing while I’m overseas.

Una

This is the kind of thing that keeps me coming back to this board. Wonderful work, I wish I wrote half as well as some of you people do.

I’m totally and completely hooked. Can’t wait for the next installment. Have fun on your trip.

Sweet mother of …

That was awesome. Keep up the good work. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Oh, and you don’t have to use my name. Wolverine doesn’t fit right for the area. But if you go anywhere north, say Canada or Michigan, I fully expect to be there.
