Although my status still says “On Sabbatical”, Tuba told me by e-mail that I should be “good to go” to post this.

OK, here is what I can tell you.

I was not and am not banned. I did not have my posting privledges revoked either. Also, since people have asked, I did not have a “meltdown”. Look for evidence of that on this Board, the UB, or Fathom, and you will find none.

Lynn, Tuba, Manny, UncleBeer, and others have been helping me out with a nasty IRL situation. Yes, many of us forget that there are IRL things that can impose themselves on this sanctuary of knowledge. And some of them are pretty scary. There are some sick people out there, who will go anywhere and do anything to discredit and hurt someone.

The fine individuals of the SDMB, on the other hand, have gone the extra mile, and then another hundred, to help me out with this issue. They exposed themselves to loads of administrative grief, criticism, flames, nasty e-mails - make that numerous nasty e-mails - for me. They took it on the chin for me, and I won’t forget it. I know that things were - and will be - “mysterious”, and that prompted many of the e-mails they received. I was not - could not be - forthcoming, and thus many people felt confused and hurt on my behalf. I understand that, but I would still humbly ask that people who sent angry mails to the SDMB staff make it right with the SDMB Admins and Moderators. Please? They did not deserve it. They were willing to do anything to help me, and did far, far more than I asked or expected. They have my deepest respect, and deserve yours as well.

They are fantastic, intelligent, resourceful and caring people who truly do want to help others, and are all good friends to me. Many of you have no idea just how good.

As to what is going on - no, I won’t explain more, and neither will the SDMB staff. They are protecting me, and doing a damn fine job of it. Those who need to know already know.

I already know that people are calling it a “drama queen” incident - in chat, in mail, and even on this Board. To call it that obviously insults the seriousness by which it was taken by the SDMB staff. But then, there are always a tiny group of individuals who will spread nasty rumors, or kick someone when they are down.

I will be scarce for a while, but not gone. I’m going to spend the time I would normally be on the SDMB finishing Cecil Cove 3, wherein we meet the deadly and beautiful Ms. Bodoni…

I very much appreciate the way the mods and admins of this board have handled this situation. You all already had my respect, and my respect has grown by “leaps and bounds” the past few days.

I am also glad that Anthracite made this thread. I was unable to post to some threads concerning this because they had been closed, and rightly so, and discouraged from posting to the one that referenced this situation by people whose opinion I respect a great deal. It is best that we all just let this alone and allow the people involved to handle it. They are doing a marvelous job.

I love you, Una, and I look forward to the day that you return.

What I think is touching, dear Anthracite and other readers, is that Dr Seigleo made his first (and so far only post) in this closed thread because as a regular lurker in GQ he saw a ‘banned’ sign under the coal-queen’s name. He was concerned about his favourite poster.

I think one of the triumphs of this place is that we can often have quite warm feelings about people who we have never met and who may never know how their thoughts and ideas have touched us.

You add a distinctive tone here, and many of us will be imnpatient for your happy return to the Boards. Hope things work out as well as they can for you.

And Dr. S, in case you’ve strayed out of the “intelligent” part of the Boards, my hat is off to you too.
