Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis a chilly 48 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 83. AHHH Fall! Lurve the house bein’ open for a while.

{{{Wiki}}} little kitty had a great last few days on Earth thanks to you. Fawn and Zoey have had good lives surrounded by love and they know that I firmly believe.

Apes so when do we get to see?

Ok that’s all I got. I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must commence. Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Aw, {{{kai}}} - Making that last trip to the vet sure doesn’t get any easier, even after multiple times. But you know you’re doing the right thing for your critters. So sad about the kitteh, too, but you did give her a comfy end, which beats cold and hungry and alone.

Speaking of alone, I came to work myself this morning. **FCD **has a Dr appt so he won’t be in till later. I have too much to do to be taking time off. Plus there’s the whole no-pay-if-I-don’t-work deal. Anyway, I’m just about done with breakfast, I’ve already been into my mailbox this morning, and I’m about to wrap up a bunch of loose ends, because I ROCK!!!

And I just now noticed a $1 chip from Vegas on my desk. Did the Casino Fairy visit overnight? Nah, more likely someone just came back from vacation in Vegas. I understand the tradition here is to come back from vacation with little souvenirs for coworkers - usually in the form of tacky touristy magnets. I guess I’d rather have a chip than a magnet… I guess…

And so, into the fray!! Happy Tuesday!!!

Blurf.

{{{Wiki}}}

Up, caffeinated, off to irk.

Blurfy blurfitty blurf.
The fire alarm is broken, and was going bip-bip-bip all night. It’s a hardwired in one for the whole house, not just my flat, so cannot be turned off by the likes o’ me. Supposedly someone’s coming to fix it today- I ain’t holdin’ my breath- but until then I can hear it in my room, so had to sleep with earplugs in last night, which I hates I does, so I couldn’t sleep properly and overslept. Hence copious blurfage.

The Autumn Drizzle [sup]tm[/sup] is still going, and I think I’ll have to drag myself out in it to plant overwintering garlic and beans and things, however depressingly soggy and grey it is.

This afternoon I probably should start giving the house a proper clean out, as the parents are coming to visit this weekend, in order to go to an Orchid festival (and not, as one of my friends misheard, an ‘awkward festival’ interesting though that sounds), as well as either going fossil hunting or having a trip to the National Arboretum, to look at all the trees being pretty despite the sog.

Wiki - sad times indeed, but you gave those critters everything they needed and certainly little kitty would have had the best last week full of love with you.

Nothing much going on here, I am getting over my cold so haven’t really been doing much at all. Irk is ok, students are more than irksome especially when they won’t respond to emails and messages, serves 'em right when I get the head of dept involved to give 'em a good telling off. I’d do it myself but I’m just the temp…

I have a sudden desire to go to an “awkward” festival. Sounds like so much fun! It’s festival time here in south Jawja. There’s one for everything. BBQ, Chikin Pie, Peanuts, Pee-cans, Mules (seriously it’s called Mule Days), Cotton, Pigs (ok, it’s called “The Big Pig Jig” and is all about bbq), and every conceivable arts and crafts thingy one can think of I do believe. One can festivate to one’s heart’s desire should one’s heart so desire just about every weekend in September, October and November around these parts.

Yes I am procrastinatin’. So what! I don’t wanna get started just yet. So There! :stuck_out_tongue:

This morning has been almost surreal. I did something that I’ve been dreading. DREADING. And it turned out better than I could have ever imagined. Now I’m just getting ready for water aerobics.

One hopes that you speak of something one uses in a tent rather than puh Kahns, or you must turn in your Southern Gentleman card. :dubious:

:dubious: yerself.

As a card carrying former peecan grower myself, ‘PEE-can’ is the proper pronunciation in any location south of the Mason-Dixon line and east of the Mississippi River. Saying ‘puh-KAHN’ immediately gets you tagged as an effete Yankee snob and carpetbagger.

You get a pass, 'cuz Little Rock is west of the Mississippi.

Good Gad.
I have heard “puh-kahn” in Arkansas, Tennessee, Texas and Louisiana.
I highly suspect that you and Swampy are…*Not from around here. *
:dubious:

I think y’all are just* nuts*.

I lied. No water aerobics for me. Gizmo seemed kind of iffy this morning so we’re hanging out together here today. We tried to take a nap but that buzz was kinda killed when my grandma busted through the door without knocking to try to figure out where Gizmo had gone.

Now on to studying.

Generally, I’ve found that it’s “pu-KAHN” in Texas. My mom, from Kansas, says “PEE-can” for the nut and “pu-KAHN” for the pie.

I got nothing done last night, as opposed to the list of things I’d planned to do. Still it was very relaxing to just sit and read and watch Modern Marvels on H2. Now I want a 9mm derringer pistol of my very own.

The kitties are becoming more affectionate. I think part of it was the discomfort of healing from being spayed. I haven’t had to kick them out of the bedroom the last several nights running, which is nice.

I am having mucho trouble getting up in the morning. Even if I get the full eight hours, I drag and I whine, and I run late. It looks like I’m going to have to shoot for at least eight and a half hours. Or I could try to get a little bit of exercise in during the day. I think that might help.

And yay me for not spending any money yesterday! I ate in for every single meal. Whoopee!

{{{wiki}}} Ani-pals don’t know death. They don’t fear it. However, it’s gut wrenching to us hoomans. Take comfort in knowing that you gave kitteh and puppehs good lives and that’s what matters to them.

Yer durn totin’ I ain’t :stuck_out_tongue: My peecan tree was in Nawth Carliner, and I still have about 40 lbs of nuts in my freezer. Makes me VERY popular with my relatives come November and December, too…

Oh, Nawth, well.

Nice barbecue sauce, though.

And I just fixed my great-grandboss’s computer problem. Woohoo!

Points for phouka!

Have a chocolate pecan pie and some vanilla ice cream. (Pronounce ‘pecan’ however you like.)
In other news, I am starving! There is, however, a warm and fuzzy schnoodle snoring merrily away resting his head on my right leg and I don’t want to move him.
