A sushi roll for every state

Shouldn’t the Maryland Roll have Old Bay seasoning on it, too?

I mean, hell, they put it on everything else around here…

Ohio Roll: Walleye and noodles with mashed potato.

North Dakota roll:

Canada goose and sugar beets in a wheat and sunflower seed wrap served with a petroleum sauce.

North Carolina Roll: Pulled BBQ pork and cole slaw reverse roll with barbecue sauce.

Montana Roll: Rocky Mountain Oysters, strips of raw beef, rice, wrapped in seaweed.

We’re not a state, but

The Washington DC roll: rockfish and rice dipped in mambo sauce, but before you can eat it, some congressman from the suburbs has to say it’s ok.

Ok, so I’m going to be the fourth Southerner to mention catfish. I’m going to offer a second option for Arkansas - catfish with okra. Fried okra, obviously, there is no other kind of okra. And as “Arky” said, with locally grown rice.

Nevada: Fresh Rainbow Trout, served off a Hooker’s Titty

Utah: Salt tablet and a lecture

New Jersey: Severed finger (or penis, maybe)

West Virginia: Rainbow trout (or Deer Jerky) & ramps, wrapped in a Heiner’s hot dog bun!

Iowa: Tempura pork and corn in soy paper.

Hmm - since Indiana was mentioned (I would’ve sugegste Crappie instead for the fish, what it works)…

Tennessee: Mountain trout wrapped in collard greens… with a shot Gentleman Jack as the dipping sauce. It might taste awful, but would you care?

Georgia: I’m thinking a thin slice of fish, wrapped in a thinner slice of peach, which is then rolled in rice. Not sure what kind of fish, but something light could well work here.

A Texas roll should have brisket in it somewhere.

These lists might help narrow down, especially fish or mammal. Of course some state residents would be mystified to even find out what their state animals are, while other states have them ingrained.

Heh. Alabama is too cool to have the Atlantic Tarpon as their fish. It needs to be called the Fighting Tarpon!

My thoughts exactly.

(Though I suppose you could put cream of mushroom soup over that and make yourself a nice hotdish, doncha know. :D)

Or what about some lutefisk and pickled herring rolled up in lefse?

Win.

On a related note, I think a Proghorn roll at least sounds good.

Damn, that was pretty much what I was going to suggest for Alabama. Maybe add some black-eyed peas and a little pepper sauce?

North Carolina roll: Mudcat with vinegar “sauce,” wrapped in a tobacco leaf.

Wisconsin roll: cheese curd, watercress and bluegill, surrounded with tater tot and topped with ginger and cranberry sauce.

New Jersey roll (northern): see New York roll.

New Jersey roll (southern) see Pennsylvania roll.
