In the very first one, young Michael Myers is dressed in a clown costume when he becomes evil and knifes his older sister.
In Halloween 4, the little girl Jamie is wearing a quite similar clown costume when she turns evil and knifes whoever that was she knifed (I was half-watching it at work and wasn’t really paying attention to who was who).
I submit the Halloween movies are cautionary tales about dressing young children up as clowns.
What? What are you talking about? There was no Halloween 4. There was the first one, the second one, and H20. I will hear none of this “other sequel” talk.
It’s almost time, kids. The clock is ticking. Be in front of your TV sets for the Horrorthon, followed by the Big Giveaway. Don’t miss it. And don’t forget to wear your masks. The clock is ticking. It’s almost time.
What are these other “Halloween” films that you mention - the “second one”? and “H20”? Everybody knows there was one and ONLY ONE Halloween movie, that came out in 1978 as a stand-alone film with NO SEQUELS EVER!!!
[size=1]This makes me almost as mad as the folks who claim that “Silence of the Lambs” had a sequel called “Hannibal” and that they remade “Red Dragon” with a clearly much too old Hopkins.[size=1]
Well, the clown thing is the only rationale behind these movies I could come up with, because even after seeing them all and reading the synopses at www.stomptokyo.com , I still can’t figure out what made Michael the way he was. At least Freddy and Jason were given halfway decent origin stories. Michael still has the best theme music, though.
I always found Michael the scariest, because there was no reason for him to be quite so evil, other than plain old Bad Seed Syndrome. That, and no matter how fast you run, he’s still right behind you. That’s not to say I didn’t have my share of Freddy Krueger nightmares as a kid, but now that I’m older, Freddy’s just scary and Michael’s terrifying.
(That, and Freddy has a bunch of weaknesses, when you come right down to it. And you can keep him talking to stall a little. No such luck with Michael.)
