The thing I would like to say is THANK YOU. Having been a donor for years it is very touching to me to see so many new people willing to give one of the ultimate gifts. I hope to see or hear from many of you on or around November 6th, 7th, and 8th when we become eligible to donate again. It will still be needed I promise. Everyone who has done this for the first time, and all you grizzled veterans of the phlebotomist’s chair, I salute your compassion and willingness to help.
I was turned away from the Red Cross in Van Nuys,CA on Tuesday. They had waaay more donors then they could handle. I was able to donate at Providence/St. Johns on Wednesday morning in the auditorium. There were about 200 other donors waiting patiently , in good spirits.
I went Tuesday afternoon at about 2pm, and was told to come back at 4pm. I went back, and they put my name on a list.
Bright and early Wednesday morning, they called, asked to come in ASAP, and scheduled an appointment. So now I’m a pint short, and I’m so happy I went.
I’ve been donating every six months, but from now on I’m going every eight weeks.
