Part of it is what you said, we don't worry about appearances. We talk to people who talk to us. Particularly when we have a little time to post, we can think it out and try to have a semblance of poise we may not have IRL.
What is it they say about some people, the more attractive they find someone, the more likely they are to fall in love with them, and there are other people, the more they fall in love with their partners, the more attractive their partners become to them?
Let me join in the toast to the intelligent, charming women of this board, who are beautiful both inside and out:
my love
thy hair is one kingdom
the king whereof is darkness
thy forehead is a flight of flowers
thy head is a quick forest
filled with sleeping birds
thy breasts are swarms of white bees
upon the bough of thy body
thy body to me is April
in whose armpits is the approach of spring
Darn it! Where is that from, please? It’s horribly familiar, but I don’t know why.
[sub]Do you know how proud I am that I caught an allusion from Ukulele Ike? It’s like reading a “thinker” of a book–just trying to understand it makes me feel more intelligent. And when I do…well, wow. :D[/sub]
Here’s to girl in the little red boots,
She eats my food and drinks my booze,
She doesn’t have a cherry, but that’s no sin,
She still has the box the cherry came in!
One of those silly college party toasts,
Funny thing about it: The first time I met my wife, she had on red boots!
We still tip a glass to this one occasionally.
Anyway, here’s to those made with lace and a second one for that god given Space
:::Blushing & stammering:::
“Um,er…Well, that is…ahh”[sub](Hoping she sees this as a “Hugh-Grant adorable-bumbling” thing, rather than the “hopeless-wallflower petrified-nerd” thing that it is…)[/sub]
:::Pulls self together, straightens his tie, grabs Evie’s hand and invites her into the SDMB Mistletoe Thread…
