As the MMPers and others have heard, Acid Lamp and I have moved in together! [sub]yay![/sub] I’m so excited about us having a house of our own (well, technically, we’re renting, but it’s a house!) that I decided to share some photos.
Here’s the front of the house
Here’s our front door (Acid Lamp got that giant door knocker off of eBay.)
Here’s the front entrance area
Here’s the first half of the living room. It’s big enough to be two separate rooms if needed.
Here’s the other half. The guitars really work well with the red leather chaise.
Here’s our kitchen. Yes, those are sculpted heads hanging out on top of the cabinets.
Here’s our dining room.
Once we got to the bedroom and dining room, we ran out of decorations for the walls. At least we’ve got a bed and some sheets and such.
The library is still awaiting five more boxes of books. At least what’s there is organized by author for the time being. As usual, a sculptor tends to collect a lot of three dimensional objects. That drum just happens to be good at performing as a table for cigars, pipes, the iPod thingy, and a Tibetan singing bowl that has lately been used as an ashtray.
There are other photos in the album, but it’s of boring stuff like bathrooms and our sparsely populated office. I didn’t take any photos of the back porch, mostly because what’s there needs some work. A good portion of Acid Lamp’s bonsai got toasted after a week of living without enough watering, and we’re hoping that the last two years of work haven’t been completely messed up. We’ll see, though. Some of the prettiest stuff got completely thrashed by the sun while we were scurrying around and trying to balance work and getting the house together; there simply was not enough time for either of us to drive 40+ minutes to water them before transporting them to the house. ::shrugs::
OOooh, sock monkey! Looks like you have a good start decorating. You just need the year round Christmas tree.
doggieb, I noticed the sock monkey, too.
nashi, you must be so glad the worst of the move is over. Nice house!
Very nice! I love the steamer trunks as end tables.
But I nearly cried when I saw that poor conga. Poor conga. Please at least tell me it’s a synthetic head, right?
Rule #1 of Drum Circle: Drums are not tables!
And…and…a Tibetian singing bowl as an ashtray?! Bad hippie! No patchouli!

Very pretty! I want to see pics when you’ve unpacked all your books. Also, you’ve given me kitchen envy.
Waves to sock monkey
Nice! It must be so good to have the worst part of the move over.
Now just for the rest of the unpacking. And trying to find stuff… I just found the last few things that I’d been missing since I moved a year ago. :smack:
Is that an Epiphone El Capitan sunburst hanging from the wall? I have the same thing, only your’s is missing a string.
I don’t know if it’s noticeable, but, erm, the sock monkey has boy bits. Obscenely large ones. [sub]I got bored one day and made him for fun.[/sub]
WhyNot, I do believe it’s a synthetic head. Either way, it’s only been sitting in that configuration for a few days. And, yes, we seem to be misusing a lot of stuff at the moment, but it’s only for a lack of funds to get more practical furniture. The singing bowl hasn’t been used as an official ashtray in over a year, but was originally used as such by an old roommate who decided that it’d be better than buying his own ashtray. I’ll more than likely clean it up and get it going again if I get bored enough without a major job to keep me busy. Oh, and I hate patchouli.
NurseCarmen, to be honest, I have no idea, as they’re not my guitars. (However, it’s a bass, and I was under the impression that they were only supposed to have four strings.
) I did, however, just take the 12-string next to it and the half-size 6-string to get restrung this morning; one of the local music stores does a free restringing with purchase of strings one Saturday every month. (In all seriousness, it’s neat to have TWO independent music shops within a block of each other. There’s so many cool things in the downtown area!)
LiLi, seriously, you don’t want cabinets that tall. I’m 5’9.5", and I can barely reach anything past the second shelf. Good thing we’ve got a stepstool and are currently lacking enough things to need to use it regularly.
I think I might have a part time job lined up for me, as the interview went well and I’ll be doing [sub][del]pee in a cup[/del][/sub] paperwork with them after the long weekend. I’m also applying elsewhere, as they’re more or less a temporary job until I get something that pays better (and is more interesting/better related to library work).
Unless it’s a 5 string bass.
(which, if you haven’t guessed, is what I have)
