Wow. I thought this was the worst episode of the season. It just seemed so fakey-fake even for Glee standards, like the whole opening tree-decorating scene. The schmaltz was overpowering.
They had to do a Christmas episode, Gleeks everywhere would rebel if they didn’t. I thought the plot was very in line with the season even if I didn’t like all the musical numbers.
I thought it was going to come out that it came from Sue. After all, they love her mom in Israel.
Sadly I agree with a lot of this. And Britney is now less dense than Special Ed.
I had also really hoped it would end with Kurt and Blaine under the mistletoe.
They’re singing love songs and making goo-goo eyes at each other - they’re building up to it, perhaps.
Rachel needs to back the hell off of Finn - she’s acting like Will’s crazy ex-wife, heading straight for Crazy Stalker Town.
britney is… dare i say? too stupid.

Well now that Kurt’s gone somebody has to carry on the legacy. Finn’s not going to stalk himself after all.
Will perfectly expressed the frustration with Christmas when he said it had gone from magic to an obligation, probably my favorite line from the episode. Moreso at McKinley evidently because those were some great gifts she was getting: usually workplace Secret Santas (at least in my experience) have a fairly low price limit ($25 or so).
Other than Kurt’s “cat in heat” duet with Blaine I didn’t particularly care for any of the music, but I do like some from the CD that wasn’t in the episode but that’s on YouTube.
Agreed with all who mentioned the adorability of Becky’s puppy nose.
I dunno - he’s pretty mixed-up right now, and he’s not the brightest bulb on the tree.
I was really disappointed by a lot of the songs - they took all the snap out of some of the “official” versions. “Baby It’s Cold Outside” was so… flat, as was “We Need A Little Christmas”. Just very dully sung with no personality.
Well, there’s always Karofsky. ![]()
I don’t think so. Blaine is the first real gay person Kurt has had any contact with (Karofsky notwithstanding.) and so he went al gaga over him.
I’m guessing at some point Kurt will try to kiss Blaine, Blaine will push him away and say he’s not into Kurt that way. It’s clear Kurt is head over heals for Blaine, but I don’t see any reciprocation on Blaine’s end. This will cause Kurt to be so broken up and embarrassed that he leaves the prep school.
I really liked the musical selection (other than “Last Christmas”), particularly “Island of Misfit Toys”, “Baby It’s Cold Outside” and “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.” I didn’t think the execution of “Baby It’s Cold” was as good as some others (I like the Brian Seltzer/Ann Margaret one) but it was a good choice.
I really didn’t think it had any chemistry in it at all, personally.
I admit I cried several times- when Brittany told Santa what she wanted, when they sang ‘Welcome Christmas’ & Sue repented (I expected to hear Jane Lynch narrating “And what happened next? Well in Gleeville they say that Silvester’s small heart grew three sizes that day”), when Santy Biest explained to Brittany about the little husky girl, and of course when Brittany & Artie actually got the present.
And where did Artie’s walking-brace-exoskeleton come from? Come on- we all know. But only Brittany would say it.
Best episode line:
“… reindog. They exist.”

“Was her name Ricky Lake?” (Funny line, but it makes you wonder how Brittney would know who Ricky Lake was- her show’s been off the air for several years and it’s been a lot longer than that since she was the chubby girl from John Waters’ movies.)
