Wow, that’s fascinating!
Aaaay! Welcome back Fonz!
I’m not Jewish, but Chinese food sounds good. I made tacos tonight, though.
And a mundane confession: I am being a very petty human being tonight. My friend who wanted to use the toddler safety items I stumbled across found her own packed-away supplies, and decided that she didn’t need two sets of stuff. I posted the items on Facebook, free to a needy home. A former classmate posted that she wants them, and I lied that I’d promised them somewhere else…
I feel almost zero remorse. Former classmate is a beggar. I have already given her a portable crib. She was too lazy to clean it - and I had already told her that it needed cleaning, and I can’t use bleach without breaking out in welts. She threw it away instead of declining the offer or cleaning it or donating to a charity or finding someone else who might have used it.
She got a horse last year. She can’t afford to own a horse. She regularly begs friends for equine supplies, money for veterinary and farrier bills, help with fences, etc.
I have literally driven to Walmart at midnight because she went shopping for nothing vital, and ran out of gas in the parking lot, and didn’t have gas money to drive home.
She and her husband have been evicted from their last two homes, in the past year. In both cases, they signed leases, paid a month’s rent, and then just quit paying, even while renting bouncy castles for grandchildren’s birthdays, or going on cruises. In both cases, they poor mouthed, and took advantage of old friends, who let security deposits slide, and incurred the court costs of eviction, along with significant damage and loss of rental income.
Etc.
I’ll be damned if I’m going to give her anything else. I will throw these items in the dumpster first!
(Actually, not really. I’m giving them to a local group that supports foster families. Too often, when a child needs placement, a high chair or bed rail or safety gate are needed in the middle of the night. I remember too many intakes from when my mother was a foster parent - midnight, filthy, traumatized child with a trash bag containing all of his worldly goods. We had a washing machine on the back porch, because too often, the child and that garbage bag were infested - lice, roaches, etc. Mama took in teenagers, but there were nights when no one else could take a toddler, and a bed rail or high chair would have been handy!)
Sounds like my friend’s husband’s daughter. No real job, but they have a 2012 Camero, and better seats in the arena than I do.:dubious:
Good for you Peaches. I think you’ve found the right place for your things.
Doggio - yep, the oven is gas.
Almost time to chase the boy child to bed.
I woke at 2:30 this stoopit morning. I got to the office before 6. I am not amused. But I’ve got a Dr appt this afternoon so at least now I don’t have to use leave time, so there’s that.
Still, it’s gonna be a long day. Dammit.
Happy Thursday - oh, wait, it’s payday. That helps.
I still haven’t been to bed. I guess that means I’ve lapped you Mooommm. I’m going to try for 2 hours before I have to get up and get the kids to school. Happy Payday!
It’s too damn early to be up when I have nowhere else to be. I’m hungry and decaffeinated, but I don’t want to get up. I may venture out later today to get lunch to get out of the house, but also to see if I can drive safely around the neighborhood. If I can, it’ll be a lot easier for me. We’ll see.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 57 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 87 and sunny (N.O.S.) for the day. Several degrees warmer than the last few days. Tomorrow will be just as warm and then Sattidy’s high should be around eighty Amurrkin. Since I will be grillin’ copious amounts of chikin laigs and brats (the sausage kind) Sattidy afternoon, the cooler temp will be appreciated. Warm but not too warm. I shall tackle trees this mornin’. What I need to do to the trees won’t take long. Mainly I want to lop off some low hangin’ branches and then haul 'em off. Dindin shall be beastloaf, steamed cabbage, mac 'n cheese and cornbread. I shall also do a couple loads of laundry. Sounds like enough to keep me off the streets and outta trouble, does it not?
Peaches glad you found a good place to donate the baby stuff.
Sunny I say buy a new stove. It’ll be more efficient and thus pay for itself in the long run.
OK I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then, onward to tree trimmin’ etc.
Happy Thursday Y’all!
Happy Thorsday!
I’m up too early, been up since 4. Now I’m tired but I have to go to irk in an hour. I’ll probably feel worse if I go back to sleep.
It’s just starting to get light outside. A chilly 51 degrees now, going up to 69. It’s supposed to rain, so maybe the plants will get planted today, maybe not.
I have to look up plant info, height/space/sun requirements. I have yarrow, bee balm, cat mint, chives, digitalis foxy, dill, purple cone flower, hyssop, lavender, mountain mint, patchouli, and Russian sage.
I love patchouli, I still wear it at times even though one guy I used to work with told me it reminded him of his grandmother.
The notary comes at noon today.
Fonz whenever the board starts to get to me I still come here and ignore the other threads. Just remember too, it’s pixels on a screen, it’s not worth getting upset over. One benefit of being online is if somebody(s) gets on your nerves you can eliminate them without going to jail. If only it were that easy offline.
My friend was going to turn herself in today but now she is waiting until next week. She keeps putting it off even though she knows it’s better to do it now than get arrested later and have her car towed and all that good stuff.
But, he daughter is supposed to be getting a engagement ring today, so she wants to be home for that.
you should have taken a screen shot - that’s a live cam and the barge in question is long gone
eta BLURF
Why read something I could have written?
Actually I’m reading two H Beam Pipers I missed somehow along the way - Four-Day Planet and Lone Star Planet. They are giving me a little trouble because even by his standards they run slow and repetitive.
Up,caffeinated, and sheveled. I’m off today, so I need to get the oil changed in the truck, and do some laundry today.
I’d love to have one of the ones that comes with a built in griddle top. Or if I won the lottery ,one of those $4000 Viking ranges.
sari, actually you can do it offline.
Roomie’s Mom and brother showed up at 4 a.m. I know it was 4, because that’s when the two dogs next to my face went crazy. I managed to get another half-hour or so of sleep, but it’s gonna be a looooong day. The good news is that once I make it through today, I’m off until Tuesday.
blurf. Gotta get ready for my 12-14 hour day. I will be so glad when this event is over. One less thing to worry about.
It’s a timey-wimey thing, can I help if you are late?
Oh, one more thing. Last night, after two weeks of me asking her if she wanted me to or not, Roomie finally admitted she would like me to make a speech at the wedding. I have literally asked her at least a dozen times, and her response has always been “If you want to.” It’s not about what I want, you dumbass, it’s your wedding. But last night I asked her three times in a row with increasing force, and she finally admitted that yes, she would like me to make a speech.
I have no problem with making a speech. I even had one mostly written in my head (though now that I’m trying to commit it to paper, it’s gone). I am happy to make a speech. But FFS, why did you not tell me you wanted it the first time I asked?
Seriously, weddings suck the common sense right out of people.
I guess that depends on your definition of eliminate
The dishwasher is ready to go as soon as the clothes washer stops. I still haven’t tested the water pressure here to see if I can run two water using appliances at the same time.
I sure get a lot more done when I wake up too early and don’t go back to sleep. Unfortunately, I hurt a lot when I wake up too early and don’t go back to sleep.
The sun is shining, we’ll see for how long.
I have accomplished stuff and messed around teh intartoobz this mornin’. I say that’s quite an accomplishment. Anywho, the limbs I wanted to trim off’n the trees have been trimmed and hauled off. I made up a beastloaf to be cooked for dindin and even prepped the cabbage and mac ‘n cheese. I am considerin’ nappage as well.
I want Swampy’s life.
8 more years! Lord willing!
The notary has come and gone, and the dog has finally stopped barking at him.
The dishes are done, still one load of clothes waiting to go into the dryer, I’ve made deconstructed galumpkis. This time I left out the lentils and added a bay leaf.
Since I’ve been up since 4, I’m going to take a nap. Hopefully there will be enough time afterwards to plant.
