A Very Grumpy MMP

doggio, your picture of NellyK reminds me of Toby, my former step-beagle.

peaches, I’m sure that the recipients of your baby stuff will greatly appreciate it.

I played teacher today to two noobs in one of the departments that I interface with. They are currently without [del]adult supervision[/del] a lead, so giving them a few pointers will help my job go smoother. Other than that, it’s the same old same old.

The bathroom is clean, I’m running the dishwasher, and the first load of laundry is drying. Fairly productive for the first day off in 8 days.

The only problems with that life is that, for most common folk, it appears as though one of the primary prerequisites is being old. Also, nobody had the courtesy to put in an express lane.

I’m only just about old enough to appreciate the saying, youth is wasted on the young.

The rivers are cresting in Pirateville. :frowning:

I haven’t heard from Former Neighbor since Monday. I don’t know if he’s evacuated or not.

Dr appt went well, and I got my flu shot. Then I stopped at Food Lion for a rotissed chickie - I picked out a rather dried-out one, but it wasn’t too terrible. The leftovers will become soup this weekend.

I’m thinking I’ll sleep with Mel tonight. This waking in the wee dark hours has gotten old.

Dindin got ingested. Leftovers for both our N.O.L. tomorrow which is always a good thing. I have a DQ Blizzard cause OYKW got a gnawin’ and a cravin’ and went and got us both one. Mine is a Royal and his is a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup[sup]TM[/sup]. YUM!

BigKitty hope former neighbor and everyone else in Pirateville is safe. I’ve been through a flood. No fun at all.

We got 9 of the 15 plants planted and then we ran out of room. So I have to figure out where to put the other 6. I guess I should have measured instead of estimating.
Seems weird to be planting this time of year but this is when the nursery says it should be done.

One patchouli looks lush and healthy, the other is still a bit droopy.

BigKitty – good vibes ascend for your former neighbor. Having been through a “historic flood”, he will be in my thoughts for a while to come.

Work was normal - hard but some fun as well. Dinner was stuffed shells; we’re slowly eating through the freezer so we can reload it.

Oddly enough, here in the Northwest, we have 2 typhoons coming through, one today and one Saturday, and the possibility of one more next week. We’re told to expect winds of 100mph or more. And rain, lots of. I think I will be googling the difference between hurricanes, cyclones and typhoons. I thought that the difference was rotational/hemispheric, but I’ve still got one storm type too many. Some Pacific storms are still called hurricanes, but they should be cyclones (I think - is it a “courtesy” name if it’s close to the US?). Also, if it has crossed all the way from Asia to here, can we now call it a hurricane, although it was a typhoon, or just use “hurricane force winds” (they were saying something about Saffir-Simpson Category 3). It seems to me we’re just making it all a bit complicated. I will go straighten my head out on this.

Other than that, the kids have tomorrow off, which seems to be a good thing.

Because I know you’re dying to know

Typhoon: NW Pacific
Hurricane: NE Pacific, North Atlantic
Cyclone: Southern Hemisphere and the Indian Ocean

Yes, they’re supposed to change classification if they change region.

I feel better. Do you feel better?

I think these are the ends of these storms. It’s really hard to get any useful long range radar to see the rotation. I’m guessing it’s there, but the eye has collapsed.

You have typhoons in Oregon?
Japanese balloon bombs weren’t enough? :dubious:

We have volcanoes too! Tsunamis! Earthquakes! Dogs and cats living together!

So my liquor costs 18% more because of you?

Try this; change the locus as desired.

Dear G-d!

Wow. That’s cool. There’s definitely rotation. Something eye looking even. Thanks!

Really, really cool. If you back out the magnification, you can see both storms. The wind speed drops to zero in the middle of both. I think the second one looks less organized, but they seem more worried about it. Eh. We’ll see what happens. This is an awesomely fun site.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 59 Amurrkin and clear out with a predicted high of 87 and sunny (N.O.S.) for the day. What on Earth am I doin’ up now you ask? Well, twuck needs an oil change and service so I intend to be there when the Ford place opens at seven thirty a.m. I have a coupon for “The Works” even. After that I get to go to the post office to mail a package. Since that means I’ll be in Da Burg, I believe I shall go check out a couple of specials at the IGA sto’. Tell me that does not sound like a jam packed fun mornin’!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Also I must purtify so as to venture out to my adorin’ public.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Working a double today, since I’m getting a surprise truck.

I love when people use that quote!

Good morning! I slept with my good buddy Mel last night, and while I could use a few more hours, at least I mostly slept uninterrupted, so yay! Then I checked my email and discovered a message from someone claiming to have read my resume, offering me an outstanding opportunity with Farmers Insurance!!! She even cited my leadership experience and desire to manage a team.

I don’t know whose resume she was reading, but you can be assured it wasn’t mine. And since I was in a pissy mood, I wrote back and told her so. I know, I could have ignored it, but when you’re in a pissy mood, you can’t just ignore some things.

Anyway, I’ve got a pile of stuff to do today, and I need to make a list of stuff not to forget before we leave next week. And FYI, I’m not getting the internet package for this trip, so I won’t be posting anything about our exciting forays into Charleston, SC or Port Canaveral, FL. Sorry… :stuck_out_tongue:

And Happy Firday!

Blurf.

Up about 0545, which is pretty good for me. Bought a whole mess of cleaning products for the house yesterday, now we’ll see if I actually use them…

Looks like youth soccer, with tournaments and such, will keep me running until at least the end of October, and could (if we do well), till almost Thanksgiving. Got to referee a game today and two more of Saturday, so between that and coaching my early weekend is pretty well covered. Still have a gift card for Olive Garden that I just found, so I think I know what I am doing for Sunday Dinner.
