I just saw this movie this weekend, and surprisingly, it didn’t suck. I found myself laughing quite a bit. There were a lot of references to other Harold and Kumar (and other) movies, and plenty of interesting cameos.
Paula Garcés was adorable as Maria and Danny Trejo, well, did Danny Trejo.
It was out of theatres here by Thanksgiving weekend. They released it in early November, which was the epitome of stupidity. I’m sure there was some good reason for it somehow, but if I- who have never worked in movies and have only vague knowledge of marketing- can tell you that “even if it’s Harold & Kumar you still don’t release a Christmas movie until the week of Thanksgiving at the earliest”, why can’t people who get paid a lot of money figure that one out?
I will catch it on DVD. So I’ll request a spoiler:
Did NPH get killed when the madam shot him? And is he gay or straight? [In one of the trailers they mention him being gay now.]
He died, but Heaven wouldn’t take him so he’s back on earth. And no, he quite definitely not gay.
Neil Patrick Harris: What did I tell you about using tongue?
David Burtka: You told me to make it realistic.
Neil Patrick Harris: Yeah, realistic! Not fucking gay as shit!
It started out slow but the last two thirds of it were wacky and fun. NPH as usual stole the movie. I love how they played with his evolving off screen persona, and the cameo by his real life beau. And Wafflebot rocks. I want one!
I thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of funny moments, a surprisingly coherent plot, and of course NPH. They have actually moved away from the stoner comedy somewhat, most of the movie is not weed focused.
My favorite lines Kumar: I can’t tonight, I have to stay here and smoke this weed, because otherwise I won’t get high.
NPH: Hi, I’m NPH, you might know me as Colonel Carl Jenkins from Starship Troopers.
