A vision of the Ents.....Anyone?

Has anyone seen / heard of how Peter Jackson has dealt with rendering the Ents on screen in “The Two Towers”?
Are there publicity shots, photos, images or descriptions available from somewhere?
Are they to be completely CGI, or is there human actors involved for any of it?

Thanks for any information….

try this on for size - this is an action figure that is being produced, and is supposed to be pretty close.

Thanks. I have seen that one, and a few others. (That model has no toes like in the book!)

I was really looking for sneaked preview images of the actual film, as it must have all been put together by now. I guess it is a well-guarded secret. I had thought they (Ents) may have appeared in the trailers, but no. I was re-reading the Entmoot part of LOTR last night and found it hard to picture how they could possibly recreate the images in my head on film.

I think I may just have to wait this one out. :frowning:

Actually, there IS a quick shot in the trailer, but it’s basically a close up of the eye. Not much help.

John Rhys-Davies, aside from Gimli, will also be the voice of Treebeard.

Just thought you might be interested.

Shots from trailer

I had actually pictured them as being more humanlike.

That action figure is dead on to how I pictured it. A vaguely humanoid tree. Maybe bigger, especially in contrast to Hobbits, but very good.

The action figure is close to how I imagined. It’s when I come to picture the other Ents - the willow trees, pine, beech, fir trees, that I run into imaginative difficulties.

Treebeard is OK as he is shown as the ‘typical’ tree shape. How will the others look at the Entmoot? Damn it, I was sure someone somewhere would have leaked film or CGI stills by now.

A toy from Applause.com

The toy pic isn’t as clear as could be, but help me out - where is Treebeard’s face? I don’t see eyes or mouth. Hoom-hom!

Oh - I guess I see the eyes now. Little orange things? Not what I recalled from the book.
And what are Merry and Pippin supposedly sitting on? Some kinda shoulder/branch-type thingies?

Judging from what I remember in the trailer, he is a bit bigger. I don’t think the toy is to scale.

Dinsdale: The orange dots are, indeed, the eyes. Right under that is the nose, and the rest of the face is covered by a beard (natch) that covers his entire torso.

Before the first movie, they kept some stuff “secret” to get anticipation building up. You know that for people (myself included) who have read the books many times and are big fans, one of the best things about the movie is seeing places and creatures on screen that you only imagined before. So they kept Gollum/Smeagol’s appearance somewhat secret, as well as the Balrog. Now I guess they’re keeping the Ents as kind of a surprise. It’ll be worth the wait, I’m sure.

Funny, I had pictured them as more tree-like.

Me too, although I would have imagined his legs would’ve been shorter and sturdier. That may be just the toy, though.
