I say they’ll cancel each other out and cease to be. Or the sheer mass of equal, yet totally opposed crazed viewpoints will collapse in on itself and destroy the universe.

Ahh, we have another contestant in the great “I Post On Internet Message Boards And Thus Change The World!” race…
GMRyuijn
Of course… I presume you are talking about yourself, right?
Aldebaran
lighting,
I thought I was the illiterate here?
You CAN read, can you?
If yes, go read my posts?
Thank you.
Aldebaran
Aldebaran… the Red Star… hmmm… interesting,
No, really, this is getting funny.
Hi Aldebaran.
Welcome to the Straight Dope Message Board.
Why don’t you tell us a little bit about yourself, so we can get to know you ? Where are you from, what are your interests, how did you find this board, etc.
In case you’re not aware, and it seems that you aren’t, this is a very international message board. I’m a Canadian immigrant, and there are North Americans, Europeans, Asians and people from almost every walk of life here.
By the way, we don’t think this is ‘our’ message board (I presume you mean Americans thought it was theirs and theirs alone) Anyone with half a brain knows that it is The Chicago Reader’s message board. Read that itty bitty bit at the VERY BOTTOM of your page.
Also, if your English isn’t up to par with this board, you may a. check words in a dictionary, which some of us have to do anyways or b. go elsewhere and parlay in your native language(s). If you choose to c. Ignore everyone who doesn’t bother to make their English simpler for your sake, you won’t get anywhere.
Jones, it that you? RTR
(my apologies to the board…this is a weak attempt at an “in-joke”)
He won’t tell us. It’s part of his plan to win the battle. I have to admit, he’s one of the more entertaining newbies we’ve had in a while. Real meltdown potential.
You’re not very bright, are you.
Ever heard of Lutherans? How 'bout Methodists? Or Baptists, Anglicans, Quakers, Shakers, or Pentacostals? Do you know what they are? Do you know what they have to do with each other? Are you sure you are not ignorant of Christianity or the non-Catholic sects?
Think carefully before you answer.
That was to Goo.
In high school, concepts of Science are toned down so that it is easier to understand. In high school chemistry one learnt that the atom is the basic unit of all thing. Then later they introduce sub-atomic particles and that the electrons are actually clouds instead of particles (as far as I can remember).
You can’t base your arugments off high school chemistry in a debate where the finer grains of chemistry itself is observed. Yes, you are not ignorant of Chemistry, but nor are you qualified enough to engage in a debate about it at higher levels.
Same too for Christanity. The Graham Sect? Those are called denomations. And nope, there is none named after Billy Graham, a preacher. Yes, you are not ignorant of Christanity, but nor do you have enough facts to comment and debate about it adequately. You being unable to name an accurate denomation in Christanity just goes to show that you actually are quite ignorant of it.
Protestants usually refer to the denomation started by Martin Luther, splitting Christians between ‘Protestants’ and “Catholic”. The two churches soon go off in different directions, so I doubt your mother’s knowledge of Catholicism gives you any qualifications to present an adequate arugment on religion.
Many other denomations arise out from Protestantism - Baptists, charasmatic, methodist and numerous others. My church history is not top-notch, I admit, so I don’t dare to tell others “You are wrong. It shall be such and such”
Goo,
Oh God, is this not an illusion? I see a nice and welcoming word appearing on this board?
Thank you
Aldebaran.
Don’t give in, Aldebaran! The clever Goo is just tricking you! She’ll then move in for the kill once your defenses are down!
Well, Dubya is a Protestant because he’s not a Catholic, and. . . ?
Apparently, you’ve got some hard-on about Americans, not that you seem to know jack about us. Call us when you have a moment of lucidity, 'kay?
Gobear
(lived in Hong Kong and South Korea, travelled in 24 countries, speaks fluent Spanish and Korean and can order beer and give directions to cab drivers in rudimentary Putonghua, Japanese, French, and German. Typical dumb American)
Aldebaran, honestly. People here are actually very nice. They just tend to get a little riled up at wild and accusatory posts.
Like I said, I actually agree with a lot of your points in the second thread quoted in the OP. But you need an attitude adjustment. Most of the people posting to this message board are fairly intelligent. We are not unaware of world issues. You aren’t the only person here who reads the paper. To constantly question peoples’ intelligence and/or knowledge based on their nationality is rather rude.
Good luck.
Aldebaran, no problem.
So, are you going to tell us a bit about yourself, or are you going to continue saying that nobody knows you ? We can only know what you tell us.
Why not start a nice thread in MPSIMS, introducing yourself to the board ? The ball is in your court.
Neurotik, you’re making it very hard for me to post with a straight face
last cause,
You are fighting a lost cause here. I call them the Graham sect because that is an easy way to describe them and everyone not familiar with the complicated intertwined and yet differned thousands US sects in Christianity knows immediately which brand I refer to. And I write “brand” or “sect” because if I have to write “denomination” I have to look ten times to see if I have all those letters in that word and on the right place. Dyslexia is a unique birthgift since it keeps you constantly alert, but you learn to avoid traps and pits and keep things simple when possible.
For your information: all what you write there about those US sects tells me nothing and tells Europeansand other non Americans in general nothing. And they are not part of the study of Christianity in Europe. There is no obligation and no interest what so ever for me to be or to become familiar with the thousands of US sects and brands and divisions of Christianity.
Aldebaran.
:dubious:
Go bear,
Again simple attacks, accusations, arrogance.
Do you people have something else to offer or are you here just for that on this board.
Like: Hey, we are all cosy together and let’s scare every “stranger” away from the first day?
Wont work. I’m having fun, actually.
Aldebaran.
