A void has been filled: ladies and gentleman, Aldebaran!

I am honoured

For what I think is the third time in this thread, I really and truly have no idea what you’re talking about.

You also said

Aldebaran, you are a raving idiot. Thank you for proving my point all by yourself! You just condemned one religion over a whole COUNTRY based on something that, according to you, doesn’t reflect reality.

In a debate, the person presenting the arugment must back his points with proofs and solid background. You came blazing in and tossing ‘facts’ here and there, with no backing up and people who pointed to you that you are wrong are of ‘no consquence’.

If the President of US being a Christian, nay, Protestants, is a point in your debate, then you have the courtesy to research on Christanity, find out about it, even before daring to comment on it.

As such, all your points show off your ignorance - I believe the boards is dedicated to fighting ignorance, and fighting ignormaus who believe they know it all, namely, YOU.

Aldebaran, your International Man of Mystery shtick has been played out here before, and it’s been done better. I’ll give you an “E” for effort, though.

Geez, is this Pit thread moving fast or what? already 3 pages and still posts are coming out steadily.

Wha??!?

Ok, now that I got that out…

Aldebaran, others have said this in different ways, but it’s just not penetrating.

  1. “Protestantism” is NOT a religion, in and of itself.

  2. President Bush and Billy Graham are not part of the same sect of Protestants. They would probably BOTH be offended to be associated with one another.

  3. Gobear, thank you for defending us! (And to a few other posters, Wow! You know about Pentecostals…hopefully you don’t mean the freaky snake people though. )

  4. You cannot refute everything people say here by simply ignoring their valid points. I can count at least 3 instances where you have stated something similar to this:

That’s not a valid argument for your side. That’s simply claiming that anything someone else says is twisting your words. THAT is childish.

  1. If you don’t know about Protestants, don’t care about Protestants, STOP TALKING ABOUT Protestants.

  2. You obviously know little to nothing about the United States, it’s religions, and yes, daresay even G.W. Bush. When you have deigned to research things a bit more, come back and try to have a coherent discussion. Not many here will fault you for your grammatical mistakes if your argument is sound. If you don’t care to know more, why bother posting such nonsense?

  3. I call bullshit on your post regarding Christan in-bickering being completely about religion and Sunni vs. Shiite Muslim being all about laws. (If they all believed the exact same thing, there wouldn’t be two sects, now would there?)

  4. I don’t know where you are from, I don’t care where you are from, or how many languages you claim to speak. I live in the US, I have never lived and have not yet had the chance to travel abroad. I speak only English fluently, and that with a nice Southern accent. I have studied Spanish for 2 years.

~J

Oh God, you people are like dogs fighting for a bone while the bone isn’t interested in the dogs.
OK, let’s tart all over.

  1. GW Bush was saved by the oldest Graham from his alcoholism. GW Bush sees graham has his spiritual leader. GW Bush sees himself as “inspired by Hod” and whatever.
  2. I call that brand of Christianity those people follow PROTESTANT because that are protestant. Not catholic, Not Orthodox. Protestant.
  3. Whatever divisions you make in protestantism in the USA has nothing to do with my saying that Bush is an adherent of Protestantism and is influenced by Graham.
  4. Whatever you invent next about me “not knowing about US Chsitianity and not wanting to admit that” is in clear contrdaction with
  5. I said I am not scholared in US Christianity, I 'm not interested in US Christianity and its thousands of sects and I don’t need to be interested in it.
  6. I said that I write “brands” and “sects” because that are short words. You can write or name them what you want.
  7. You don’t read my posts, you come up with your interpretations of my posts. That is your problem not mine.
  8. You are behaving like a bunch of schoolchildren of 12 years old
  9. That is also your problem an not mine.
  10. You pose yourselves for being the Excluse Club of The Highly Intelligente while you have nothing to offer but behaviour of 12 years old
  11. You are obviously not on this board to have change of thought, discussions, arguements in a decent manner. No, you are here to try to expell every “intruder” as quickly as you can with your childish hostilities.
  12. Well I don’t nkow what you think, but I think that such behaviour means the death of a discussion board.

Aldebaran.

Oh God, yet an other one… Where do you read that I write that the difference between SDunni and Shi’a is “all about laws”. What has “laws” to do with a political division that rooted in the debate abot the succession of Muhammed yet came only at the for good at the surface during a very significant event in early Islamic history?

WHAT ON EARTH HAVE L A W S TO DO WITH THAT?

Where do you come to such invention?
You people are astonishing… you read whatever you like while it isn’t there.
I’m sorry, but I don’t argue with such persons. I don’t spend my time on that.

Aldebarean.

I’m sorry, I went back and read again. The post I was referring to was:

I took that to mean with regard to their differences in rules about how the religion should be followed/observed.

For the rest of what you ask, I really can’t understand your sentence.

~J

Okay, then. Bye! Have a nice weekend. I know I will, I’m going to go get my Harry Potter book tomorrow!

Yes well, if you make some effort you can easily deduct my sentence out of the double words I posted in it.
It would be better if this board had spell check but as far as I know it hasn’t.
So unless it is too much for you to read posts who will now and then show the influence of dyslexia, I guess there is nothing else left then trying to get used at reading them.
If that is too much asked then don’t read them.

Pointing out to me grammatical errors isn’t always necessary because I do see them often enough myself when re-reading. But nevertheless is always welcomed.
Thank you.

Aldebaran

Have a nice weekend Kyla.

Sorry but I haven’t read any Harry Potter so far, so that is not debatable for me.

Aldebaran.

Thus spake the whiny 12-year-old with the garbled posts and the inability to coherently discuss any topic:

Given that this board is over four years old (and is the successor to a board that ran on AOL for three years), I’m pretty sure that the board is not going to fail any time soon.

Perhaps if some whiny posters would post rants in the BBQ Pit and actually post topics for debate in Great Debates (and then defend a position with facts and logic instead of ad hominem attacks on those who criticize their lack of facts and logic), they might actually get along, here.

Your posts in Great Debates have been filled with inflammatory rhetoric, unsupported by facts. We get a few dozen new members each day, and you will note that you are the only new poster being taken to task in the Pit. This should indicate, even to your rather odd mind, that we do not seek to drive off new members; we simply do not put up with utter nonsense of the sort that you have posted.

I’m sure that we’re all having fun mocking each other, but if you continue playing games and being deliberately unintelligible, the better posters will simply ignore your posts and you will find yourself limited to exchanging juvenile insults with the people who prefer to post on your level.

That’s a funny typo. I’ll tart if you tart.

“Start” is to begin. “Tart” is a lot of things.

Tomndebb, stop being such a whiny jerk. You are so immature. I had this argument when I was ten. I bet you’ve never even left the house you were born in, and you learned English by watching Jerry Springer. Blah blah blitty blah, etc., etc.

I want my goddamn Harry Potter book!

Beagle, yes I know…saw that one to late… hehe. I did there something with the word God also I think…

Aldebaran.

Golly you guys sure piled on this guy in a hurry! I believe someone actually suggested that because his username is Arabic for ‘the follower’ that he is trying to imply he is the LEADER??? THAT’s a stretch.

I read the original thread. It seems this guy has several things going on. One of them is: English is not his first language. Another is: he is really pissed that the USA invaded and took over Iraq. Now there are other things going on also, but as for the first two-- he shares those attributes with most of the world.

Yes, he jumped in with both feet and started ranting about American butchery. It was a little much, but I think in a discourse about war using the word “butcher” in place of killing is fair enough. Especially if your sentiments are on the side of those who were killed.

I have few posts here so far but I’ve lurked for a while. Part of the reason I’ve lurked so much before posting was to get a feel for things around here. I may not be a veteran, but I’ve been around long enough to see more a few Pit Pile-ons like this one.

And that’s all fair enough. It’s the pit after all, and the guy was quite provocative with his wording. But, damn it, I think he’s got some brains and a point somewhere and I’d like to read about it.

I’ve seen people jump into the SDMB rather aggressively, get called on it, then pull back and become quite respectable. Aldebarean kinda strikes me that way but only time will tell. I just wanted to offer a little counterpoint.

I’d like to add that I didn’t read his use of French in his OP to be arrogant. I have heard people in countries outside the USA do similar things. First they try some English, but if their English is not perfect then they try some French, too… because between those two languages you’ve got a lot of people (Westerners anyway) covered. For Dog’s sake-- the dude’s just trying to communicate his thoughts. A message board seems a good place to do that.

Oh well, the advantage is that I’m known by now all over the place.

Just go on slandering and trying to “scare” me if you like for some days. If you find that amusing.

And your opinion about my posts is your opinion. You are entitled to have it, but is is and stayes your opinion and interpretation.

I said I have my style and I said every one has his/her own style.
My style can be come across as strange to you. That goes away when you are used to it.

What doesn’t go away is when people find it a sort of a hobby to repeatedly come forward with vicous attacks who have no foundation at all.
That is what kills any form of interaction on forehand. And that is what you and others do. Not what I contribute. But you.

You could think about that one.

And that I even contribute to a topic like this one means that I don’t take nothing of what people write here serious.
Or are you people really convinced you are schoolchildren who can form a group “we against one other” and yell and attack?
Like in: “We are the Best but in fact we are not so sure about that and thus and we need one single victim to threaten all together to make us feel good”?

You must be joking.
Aldebaran.

Ah, an other kind voice as a shining light in the dark hellpit…

In fact: French is my second language. I learned it from in the craddle. Dutch is my third language which I also learned from in the craddle. The rest, except my first language of course, I learned while growing up while studying since I needed them for my studies.
English is a language I never studied.

Aldebaran.
