Ah, yes, the “I can’t believe how immature you people are” argument. Tried and true.
Aldebaran, you are the one complaining about how sick and bad American Christians are while simultaneously declaring that you don’t know anything about American Christianity and don’t care to. I honestly don’t understand how you can legitimately make both of these points at the same time. If you believe that American Christianity is corrupt and has theologically weak, that’s one point you can make, but to then to declare in the next sentence that you’re unfamiliar with American Christianity is just…bizarre.
I’m not a Christian, so it’s not like I have anything personal invested in this argument. I just don’t get it.
And you yourself admit to not knowing about American Christianity, and still find yourself compelled to talk about it. And then when your inaccuracies are pointed out, you start bitching about being picked on.
The core beliefs for all Christian religions are the same, just like for Islam.
There is no division possible in the core doctrines of the religion, since certain laws are describe in Al Qur’an.
Yet there is very well a divison possible and practiced in most Islamic countries between the religious laws and the secular laws. Where the Shari’a has influence is described as such in the constitution. I you are interested, I can post a short summary about how an Islamic states in general are structured nowadays.
Sorry, But I didn’t start talking about “American Christianity”. The only referation I came up with was Bush and his Graham influenced interpretation of Christianity.
If other people jump on that and want to make a game, that is there problem not mine.
I say WHAT myself?
Oh, and I’m sure you’re right - Catholics and Protestants are killing each other, but it has NOTHING to do with religion. Whatever.
I’m as much of an expert on Islam as you are on Christianity. You see - I’ve read about it on messageboards and I’ve seen different sects of muslims attack each other! Must represent real life, since it’s on the internet, right?
No, You find that they can’t decide how he was God, how much he was God, how he was human, how much he was human, how those two interact and if they even interact and if yes in wich degrees and how this is intertwined and if this is intertwined…
Or how do you think such a thing like the filioque could cause such incredible division and problems which resound through Christianity until this day.
Venoma, no it is political if you like that or not. And just as is the case in the dramatic situation between Palestine and Israel, religion is used as fuel to keep the fire burning.
And whatever you read on message boards, doesn’t reflect reality. Or are you a fan of a virtual world?
Aldebaran you have mentioned “American Sects” of Christianity numerous times, in the vast majority of your posts to this thread, in fact. I’m still confused by what you mean by this though. if you mean those that were founded in the US then you will find them very much underrepresented seeing as the major denominations: Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian, Lutheran, and the Episcopal (which is the American counterpart to the Anglican Church) and Roman Catholicism were all founded in Europe.
If you mean Protestantism as it is practiced in the US then please do provide something other than your ignorant, nonsensical ravings as evidence.
Dude, are you from Byzantium? The filioque controversy caused the Patriarchate of Constantinople to break off relations with Rome back in 1054. While it remains a source of doctrinal divisojn between the Eastern and Western branches of the Catholic church, it does not have the significance you seem to give it.
Sounds like your learning is a mile wide and an inch deep.
gobear, It does have indeed still the meaning it had to start with.
Others, with their “Christianity” focussing in this topic on which I now and then reply: Can’t you get it that I’m not interested in the divisions created in the USA (and yes, of which no one outside the USA has ever heard of) ?
How come you developped a sudden obsession for Christianity from the minute I talked about Bush and his obsession for the Grahams?
That is all I referrred to, yet you people manage to make that developping in The Great US Christianity Debate.
But what is even more curious: you make it the Great US Christianity Experts versus the Illiterate Aldebaran Debate.
Now for your information: You can go on with this for days among yourselves, but if you want an Aldebaran in it, you’ll have to invent one.
Please feel free to do so. I’m very curious and amused on forehand to witness how you manage to “talk” as if you are me.
Aldebaran.
In fact: there is constantly some white van with flashing lights and music hidden out of my view whereever I go. They think I don’t now it, but I know all about the men in white hidden inside and ready to get me. I skilled myself in avoiding and if necessary escaping them since I was a child.
They don’t get me, HA.
That is why I come to boards like this. You must do something to be relieved from the stress this hell of a life gives you.

Gobear and I are telling you about Christanity is to show that you are too proud to admit that you are wrong or otherwise and that you don’t know what you are talking about but keep on thinking you know what you are talking about.
