I’m getting married in July. Coming from a musical family, I have asked my father and one of my younger sisters to play a duet on guitar for our first dance.
Any suggestions? I should probably decide soon so they can practice!

Congratulations!
Without knowing your musical taste it’s hard to choose a song for you so I’ll wait until you talk about yourself a bit.
Ask the Dance Maven! (About the 5th heading down the left-hand menu.)
Just make sure it’s something that both you and the soon-to-be spouse are comfortable dancing to, and that your dad and sister are comfortable with playing. If s/he doesn’t want to take dance lessons, you shouldn’t push the issue (that way lies Bridezillaism). If you do a simple slow dance for your first dance, you aren’t any less married than you are if you do something more impressive.
Eye of the Tiger.
Seconded.
Or “Through the Fire and Flames.”
Is there going to be singing? I think The Beatles’ I Will is beautiful and simple. I don’t think the lyrics are 100% compatible with actually being married (more like waiting for the love of your life) but they will fool the majority of your audience
I also think The Zombies’ This Will Be Our Year is beautiful…but no idea how it’d work with guitar, as it’s a piano song.
My musical tastes cover a lot, except for country and rap. I’ve though of songs by The Eagles as well as songs by Greenday.
Thanks for the posts guys!
At our wedding in August my Husband and I danced to Georgia Satellites “Keep Your Hands To Yourself”.
We followed it up with Norah Jones “Nearness Of You”
Barrels
How abvout “The Next Time I Fall In Love”?
Moving thread from IMHO to Cafe Society.
Two guitars can do a very good version of Dueling Banjos.
Oooh, that’s a good one.
We had “Suddenly” by Billy Ocean as our first dance (we’re both Children of the 80’s). That might make a nice guitar duet.
“You and Me” by Alice Cooper. It’s actually used fairly often as a wedding song and is quite acoustic friendly.
Make You Feel My Love by Bob Dylan. Lyrics.
A Fifth of Beethoven
My son just got married this summer, and his new wife had her father/daughter dance to “Forever Young” by Bob Dylan, and the new couple’s first dance was to Jane’s Addiction’s “Classic Girl.” It was very sweet…
“Baby I love your way” by Frampton?
Then Freebird.
