A whole new you!!

  1. Without any hestiation or restrictions. Heck, I can always take the pointy shoes off, wash off the makeup and the bangs would grow out…!! But the chance to see how good I could really look if I only had the skills and the tools? What I’m doing now is definitely not working, so sign me up! I’m free on Tuesday this week…

definitely number 4. I’d probably be pretty belligerent about it. Those tv shows and magazine articles always pick the most pathetic and hopelessly unstylish people to make over. I try to take the time to look polished. I mean no one’s perfect but I definitely have on undereye concealer and mascara if i’m leaving my house. Much more so if I’m going to work.

1 please! Maybe this magical free make-over could include a nose job too, eh?

  1. I guess I just don’t tie my self esteem to my appearance. I hate makeup and buying clothes and all that stuff, so it would be more like torture to me. I know I’m not hideous, I allowed myself to be dolled up for senior photos and my friends were stunned at the shots, but I can’t be bothered to change my lifestyle that much for so little gain.
  1. I don’t have the time to keep it up, nor the inclination to care much, but I wouldn’t turn it down. I don’t follow fashion, so I’ve no idea what’s “in” now, and I don’t wear makeup because it’s a waste of time for me. But it might be a fun thing to look pretty for a day.

Probably not.

My current morning routine is teth, shave, shower, dry hair (no “product”), into work clothes out of the door and to work…

The make over would mean extra work in “Maintaining” the new image…

If it took longer than my typical 20 minutes… nahhh, not worth it…

Sure! At this point in life I don’t turn down any experience that doesn’t cost a bunch, threaten my life or violate my ethics.

Besides it would be fun to be fussed over for a day, and get all the free stuff.

This is the way I feel about it. I’d be interested in seeing what some “expert” thinks about making me stylish or up-to-date or whatever, but unless it’s waaaaaaaaay low maintenance, I won’t keep up with it because I just don’t care enough. I only have so many free hours every day, and I’m not inclined to spend them primping.

Have you actually received such a coupon?

WARNING - IT’S A SCAM.

It works like this. Makeover company runs promotion, free prize draw, win a free makeover. Every single person “wins.” So, they book you an appointment for a makeover, and a photo session to record your new look. Then you discover that only the makeover is free. They charge you for the photographer. And he’s expensive.

Lots of people have actually fallen for this. Be warned. Here’s some stories:

um, the coupon was a figment of my imagination. This is all a figment of my imagination. For all I know - you’re a figment of my imagination…

#1 sure. But they’re not touching my hair. It looks great already.
I’d love to see what clothing styles they think would work with me. I’m always open to new ideas.

  1. It’s free!

I may not be able to keep it up on a daily basis (I never do), but I don’t mind the pampering and makeover.

Probably number 1, with the caveat that I get to say no to anything I absolutely hate.

Also with the proviso, that the look and hairstyle are low maintenance.

Exactly. As long as nothing permanent is done there’s no downside in my opinion.

Having lost 80 pounds in the last year, yeah, I’d like to see what they can do for the new me. I still can’t picture me in a dress so it would be interesting to see if they can actually find something that works for me.

And I’d love some new shoes! Man, would I love some new shoes. Casual and a yet little dressy, that cradle my extra-wide, heel-spur-inflicted feet like they were made for them. Oh yeah! The hair and the make-up would be just little extras thrown in for fun.

Hey, I just thought of something. Would new glasses be included? I could use me some nice new frames (along with updated prescription lenses.) I’ve never seen anyone get new glasses on What Not to Wear.

Tikki, in the magical world of FairyChatDreams, you can get new glasses - heck, even prescription sunglasses!

That’s a thought, too. I’m probably wearing the wrong style of glasses for my face, but they help my eyes, so that’s all I ask.

Sure, #1 definitely. I already like my own make-up and stuff, but a professional person might have some suggestions for new things.

It would be a lot more appealing (since this is a hypothetical and all) if the person had to come live with me for say, two weeks, so I could make very clear all my weird preferences for colors and particular items and stuff. Like bluethree, I wouldn’t care if every single other human being on the planet thought I looked better in pointy shoes, pointy shoes and my feet shall never be in contact with each other. It would be a waste of the make-over person’s time if they went with pointy shoes and other items that I veto.

Hey, I think I like this FairyChatDreams place!

  1. Yeah, it’s free, but I don’t enjoy that sort of thing at all and I’m pretty sure I’d find the experience both boring and embarrassing. Hell, I hate getting my hair cut, unless it’s someplace where they’re used to hippies like me and they don’t try to sell me stuff or scold me for using cheap shampoo.

5 I guess; downright refusal would be my most preferred response. This is because: 1) Makeovering types usually want to CUT your hair, which I refuse to allow.
2) They might want to change my hair color to something else besides purple. This would make me very distressed.
Now, new clothes, they can give me for free!
