Shyness is not an excuse to not meet your fellow Dopers. Get off your silly chairs and attend a Dopefest would ya?
Most Dopers don’t bite, only if you ask them nicely and usually it’s only a nibble.
Most Dopers don’t pass judgement, well not harshly < wink wink > they may comment on your posts but usually kind.
Most will feel like old friends you haven’t seen in a while.
Trust me on this.
So, to all Dopers that are shy:
Get off your computer chair and get out to meet your fellow Dopers. It’s a damn good time and you may make some great friends out of a Dopefest!

I’d go. My car’s all fixed! Problem is, no one is close to me, or I’m not close close to them. I live in north central Indiana. Majority of the Doeprs seem to be on the East/west coast. Not many midwesterners here.
Are you paying attention? So far the midwest DopeFests have been the biggest and baddest of them all. Right now a Chicago party is being planned (the third such gathering). Last winter we had a big Springfield, IL blowout. People come from far, far away to witness the debauchery.
Ummm, I am planning this much longer in advance for next years Vegas Dopefest…we discussed it (those in attendence and it’s unanimous, it’s an annual deal now).
SO, as for going to Vegas on a whim I had planned this last trip 3 months in advance, this time I am shooting for 10 months in advance. This gives everyone time to save up cash, etc.
Also, my post was more for those that claim to be shy. And I want them to know they are welcome and will have a great time at ANY dopefest if they work with it a little.
It’s me. I’m the one who made the shy comment in chat. (You’d never know from my posts though.) I sincerely, really, truly, honestly hope to someday attend a dopefest. Really. Someday. Yeah, that’s it.
Well Silver, trust me on this here, if you come to a Dopefest you will feel at home. I know you are way up north but if you get the hankering for a Dopefest and can come to one of the Dopefests I attend I will do my best to help you through your shyness.
Please note that I never even brought up you as one of the people that made the comment.
Anyhow, if you can ever swing it, go to one I know you will have a good time no matter your shyness level!
I would love to go to a fest, but vegas is like 8 hours away. And that is taking into account how fast I drive. If I did the speed limit, I would be like 12-13 hours. How about a Dopefest in my back yard? Well, not exactly my back yard, in the same city.
Lake Shasta in Redding CA. Its big, no, its Gigantic! There are hundreds of secluded spots. Shit, Lake Shasta is so big, Chiefie could even bring his little boat and give rides.
Ok so maybe not a very good idea, after all Vegas has showgirls, hookers and gambling. Redding has 2 lakes, rednecks and cheap beer.
My shyness is downright terminal, and I’ve still managed to attend three Dopefests so far. I’m planning on attending one sometime this month at xploder’s house in Flint, and I might be going to the one in Chicago next month (depending on how the finances look)
I actually considered driving to Vegas, it too is a 13 hour drive from C Springs but decided that driving on a holiday weekend would not be something I would want to do.
Other people drove, I know that one of the Dopers near me that wanted to go was going to drive – sides he has a shiney truck.
I wouldn’t mind attending a dopefest. Anyone holding on in the SF Bay Area anytime soon. My biggest problem though would be that I tend to have to travel on pretty short notice sometimes.
