Don’t feel bad Whammo, I haven’t had any hits either as far as I can tell.
After a long dry spell of several days, I finally got some hits. I’m working on RAS Protein (#96-21-76) and have registered 17 hits with 10% left to go.
I passed 1,000 points.
Do the hits go away each time the molecule changes? I had two hits on the screen the other day and today I don’t have any. Do you have to watch each one for hits?

Yep. Once a new project is started, you look the hit count number. You pretty much have to see the screen in order to see the number of hits that project has done.
BTW, I’m up to 20 hits on my current project.

I finally found this post again! I joined the team a few days ago, and I’m letting the agent run all the time. I know my computer doesnt do much work 
but I’m happy to help, and I hope others join as well.
I just got it all set up on my computer. I am registered under “Jeannie&Derek” on our team. (Derek is my husband. I wanted his name there too, since it’s his computer as well). My machine is only rated a 40 for overall performance, so I don’t know how much help we’ll be.

Welcome to the SDMB Jenna, and thanks for your help with the project. I wouldn’t worry to much about just doing a little bit. A little bit is more than nothing and every bit helps. 
What exactly are hits anyway? I take it that it found something… but what?
A hit is a “positive interaction” between the drug molecule and the target cancer protein. Any positive interaction could eventually lead to the formulation of a drug that could cure cancer.

Out of the 18 or 19 results my computer has returned, only one of them (that I noticed) had any hits. But it had a whopping 90 hits. I monitored that one closely, hehe.
90 hits?! Sheesh, I thought the 51 on my current WU was a lot :D.

90? 51? The most I’ve ever gotten in a single WU, so far as I know, is 8. And I haven’t had a single hit in almost a week.
I’m feeling like a slacker right now. My computer has been off all evening, and now it isn’t working properly so it has to stay off until I get home from work tomorrow. All because I wanted to move the tower down to the floor to make more room on my desk. Ah well. There’re plenty of new members to pick up my slack.
Remember that 51-hit WU? Well, I woke up to find my computer still working on the same unit. . .now with 66 hits :eek:! At approximately 17 hours (for an RAS WU!) this is probably the longest unit my 900 Athlon is gonna see for a while. . .
How unfair it is - about 1050 points and 45 hits on this last molecule alone

For those of you who haven’t gotten many hit’s so far, don’t worry. You’ll get some eventually. I had very few hits myself until yesterday when I uploaded a Work Unit with 43 hits. I don’t know what that protien is in charge of, but it’s going down!
Just thought I would jump in and mention that I’ve got one going now with 8 hits so far. It’s at about 88% right now. Granted, that’s nothing compared to what some of you have had, but I think it’s pretty cool.
I’m still not even sure I understand what it’s doing (yes, I looked around the website, but I guess I’m just dense), but it’s good to know that I’m helping somehow.
Yesterday, I had a WU that finished at, I think, 51. It took about 10 [sup]1[/sup]/[sub]2[/sub] hours to complete. That’s the last I saw, I didn’t catch the very end. The one I’m on now has 15 hits. It’s been working on this one for 13 hours and it’s at 88% complete. They had been taking about 6 each.

I finally got this downloaded and installed. I hope I did it right…I assume I can tell by checking my member profile tommorow to see how long it has been running? Sorry…I am not the brightest bulb in the computer chandelier.

90 hits really impressed me too, well, at least it would have had I not read the thread on the UD website talking about hits. (ER, stupid, freaking newbie doesn’t know how to post a link!!) I found the thread easy enough though, and there are people there that boast of 100+ hits. I would have been a skeptic, if not for my 90 
I’ve only had 2 other WU’s to have any hits at all. One had 8 and the other, 17.
