Guess I wont talk about the weather. Except that it has been pretty rainy here lately. And having grown up in Fern Forest I love it. Man I used to snuggle under my covers in my bed and listen to the rain pound on the aluminum roof. Closest thing to a womb since the womb. Good times.
Have to say that your description actually makes the rain sound great. Now hearing the Lovin’ Spoonful in my head singing “You and me and rain on the roof…”.
It’s at the Kimmel Center and it’s a concert that has been sold out.
I haven’t been to the Kimmel Center yet – was going to go see Youssou N’Dour and Angelique Kidjo with my sister there next month, but apparently M. N’Dour, a Muslim, has decided touring the U.S. at this point would not be appropriate. Bummer.
Just want to say that although I’ve been through the Kimmel a number of times, I’ve not yet seen a concert there. Too bad about Youssou N’Dour. I saw him with Peter Gabriel, Sting, Bruce, and Tracey Chapman some years ago at the Amnesty concert at JFK Stadium. Liked him enough to pick up a couple of his cds. Too bad when political/religious issues interfere with the music.
Love both of 'em – my sister and I saw Youssou N’Dour at the TLA (gad, gotta be 8 or 10 years ago) and it was amazing. I’m really, really bummed about the cancellation. I don’t have Kidjo’s latest, but have several of her earlier albums.
Quick time out for a little thread history. Klaatu started the thread with an accidental post, but he doesn’t appear again in the first two pages. We really have Homebrew and Hamlet to thank for spontaneously creating the concept of sequential letter posting.
At our current rate, we should hit 1,000 pages on June 6, 2004.
Not coincidentally, apparently, in light of recent posts, my first post on this thread came right after Twicks’ first post, both on page 2.
Xpect it to end NEVER! My real estate agent just gave me some printouts - there are 3 other places with pools in my price range, so even if I don’t buy the house out north, we may still be having “SplashDope 2003” at my house this summer!
