So, just because a proposed law doing $badthing (say, a federal law making homosexual activities a crime) is unlikely to actually be introduced, much less pass, we shouldn’t talk about how fucking stupid and downright evil said proposed law is, and what fucktards its proponents are?
The struggle for equality and an end to discrimination must continue. Social justice can’t be achieved by just ceasing discussion when you think there’s been enough. It’s going to take time, but we have to keep on until the fight is won.
It’s been talked about. That’s part of the OP’s point. Nobody is saying anything new about it now and the topic usually becomes an excuse to rag on black people.
Hence my second paragraph.
That type of logic and rational discussion won’t fly in the Pit. Fucktard.
Seriously though… what you said in the second paragraph is true. Giving a bunch of random black people some checks just isn’t going to do it though.
Eh, 90% of GD is the same topics over and over again. Iraq, Isreal/Palestine, Why Bush Sucks (and Why Clinton Sucked before the last election) and so on and so on. While there are occasionally some very interesting original topics in the forum, most of the time it’s not just new people debating the same old things, it’s often the same old people debating the same old things. Affirimative action and reperations topics are hardly unique in that regard.
Well, that’s the thing. Doing reparations is not a “proposed law” in the sense that any legislative body anywhere is considering it. It’s really a proposal for a proposed law, so it’s too early to fight about.
The problem with this statement is that the folks on both sides of both issues will 100% agree with it. You might as well come out in full support of not beating up old ladies or something.
I wouldn’t even call it that. To me it’s more like a boogie/strawman for idiots to disguise irrational attacks on black people. but that’s just me.
Scott, I actually thought that was what it was going to be about.
The proper time to fight about it is the first time someone does something stupid like suggest reparations are a good idea, and then every other time after that.
You’d think, but the fact that this thread exists points to the contrary
